What does the yogi constantly practice? During the day, increase appearances. At night, in one's own dwelling, to measure the equality of the four times, gather the sense gates, and on the lamp of the empty bindu, the yogi rests the mind. When the bindu increases, let awareness also increase. Likewise, when the bindu becomes smaller, the bindu becomes smaller and smaller, and awareness also rests smaller and smaller. With the key of sleep and dreams, uproot the habitual tendencies of the past from their roots. In this way, during all the times of the night, those with the fortune of yoga should practice. This will cause appearances to increase naturally. Thus it is said. Among all practices, the first of the four ways of abiding without moving is abiding like the ocean. For example, when the ocean is not stirred by the wind, the planets and stars appear to be arranged, but the stars do not adhere to the water, and the stars do not move from their positions. Likewise, awareness rests in transparency, without an object. The sense consciousness is not cut off, but it does not turn into the conceptualization of consciousness. Each one knows, but there is no discriminating consciousness. The objects of appearance are scattered, but one cannot determine their categories. Therefore, compared to before, the sense gates are clear, and there is no conceptualization of consciousness. Thus it is said. That is to say, the nature of this essence does not abide in anything, but it does not cling to emptiness. The nature is free from fabrication, but it does not fall into abandoned emptiness. The manifestation of skill does not cease, but it has gone beyond the object of clinging. From the wordless it is said: The intention of abiding like the ocean is: It is not appearance, nor is it the maker of appearance. It is not emptiness, nor does it exist in emptiness. It is not light, but the realm of great light. It is not sinking, nor is it naturally disappearing distraction. It does not move, it does not change. It does not act, it does not move, it transcends all actions. If one does not cling to any side of the object, it is like the stars appearing in the depths of the ocean. Without clinging, it is clear and unceasing. That is the state of abiding. Thus it is said. The second is abiding in awareness. Once awareness is recognized, the way of liberation through the simultaneous arising of the senses, there can be no philosophical tenets of consciousness, and by tasting the nature of non-clinging, the basis for reversing the three realms is exhausted. From the Prasangika it is said: The ultimate meaning is free from consciousness. When the first is simultaneously liberated, one's own establishment

At the very end, without attachment or clinging to anything, experiencing the taste of true Dharma-nature, without reliance in the three realms of samsara, just as space merges into space, so too is the supreme yoga. Therefore, since awareness itself possesses natural meditation, there is no need to deliberately cultivate the artificial practice of bliss, clarity, and non-thought. The goodness of primordial purity's awareness, without any defilement to grasp, if later fabricated and adorned with conceptual thoughts, there is no need for that. Leaving the self-liberated vast expanse, the state without boundaries or inner and outer divisions, in its own nature. And if connected with Tögal, the light of awareness dawns like strands of wool, integrating superior insight and numerous practices into one taste to be cultivated. From the absence of letters, awareness resting as it is, is the instruction, this is the secret essence. And, the meaning of appearance being uniquely decisive is, seeking the method of awareness itself resting, this is the secret of secrets, liberating to the other shore with the power of appearance, not bound by attachment, it is self-arisen appearance. Third, appearance approaching rest is, the clarity of awareness is like a mirror, it is the basis of all appearances, even if blocked, it cannot be stopped, because it is unobstructed energy. Even if practiced, it cannot be accomplished, because it will self-liberate into non-birth. Therefore, for what is known and phenomena, do not deliberately collect those things that seem measurable, do not stop with antidotes, do not withdraw into self-nature, but keep it open, so that it cannot transcend Dharma-nature. As it says in the pile of jewels: When Dharma appears with names and forms, I have self-arisen qualities, so I do not take or reject this. And, from the absence of letters, Vajrasattva's awareness resting as it is, shows all the appearances of the Dharmakaya, with the appearance of pure wisdom appearing as it is, the secret method of resting is the state of resting as it is, the appearance of the Dharmakaya, the five elements are not abandoned, it is not abandonment, but rest in its own meaning. The intention here is to cultivate the union of appearance and awareness, without duality, into one taste. If you do not understand this, but just stare at what appears, then that is awareness being deluded by external objects, it is the root cause of conceptual thought itself becoming a mistake. Even if you grasp self-nature, it is the fault of antidotes, like a worm bound by its own saliva. Or clinging to abiding as the essence, thereby cultivating non-thought, viewing appearance as energy.
