Manifestation and transcendence are also one in the nature of basic wisdom. Self-manifestation says: The basis of sentient beings and the basis of the Buddha, It is certain to be distinguished by one difference. How to distinguish it? The spontaneous power of manifestation has not been liberated on the wisdom, and has become other-powered, becoming the nature of mind and mental events, like an opened silk, it is the basis of many appearances. It is the initial appearance of all the habits of the three realms, the karma in the middle, and the final container, so it is called Alaya. Self-manifestation says: Alaya holds on to discriminating thoughts, Deceived by various confused knowledge. Alaya is an object of ignorance. Therefore, it is called the basis of everything. Among them, "everything" is a plural word, and "basis" is the basis of dwelling in various collections. Dharmakaya has not been transformed into the other-power of ignorance, and has transcended mind and mental events, so it is not a container of various realms, and does not coexist with the mind that holds the realm and the realm-holder, and is not contaminated by the thoughts of karma and habits, so it transcends the stream of memory. As the "Mutiqa Necklace" says: Dharmakaya is the exhaustion of leaks, Empty and clear, clear and pervasive, Not contaminated by thoughts, memory is clear, It is free from elaboration itself, Pervasive and empty like the sky, Free from all self-purifying symbols. If we distinguish from the perspective of the dependent and the dependent, then Alaya is the dependent, mind is the dependent, Dharmakaya is the dependent, and wisdom is the dependent. As the "Six Realms" says: Wonderful! Great-hearted one, the abode of the mind is Alaya. Why is this so? Because Alaya is the collection of all objects of thought, and is known as the mind. The abode of wisdom is Dharmakaya. Why is this so? Because Dharmakaya does not have all memories and discriminations, and has no knowledge of holding the realm as other. If we distinguish from the perspective of metaphor, it is like a ship floating on the sea. Thus, Dharmakaya is the wisdom of original purity and freedom from elaboration, and its nature is not established anywhere. The steps of various manifestations stagnate, and also return from sudden defilements, like a clear sea. What becomes an obstacle to Dharmakaya is the part of wisdom that turns into the spontaneous power of manifestation, which gives rise to the nature of Alaya, which is the basis, pervasiveness, and nature of all ignorance, like a ship with mind and mind

Beings emanated from karma and habitual patterns are like being filled with various things that function as the eight consciousnesses. As it says in "Self-Emergence": "The analogy of the alaya and the dharmakaya is like the ocean and the boatman, they are not separate." That is to say, the spontaneously arisen aspect of awareness does not change. The aspect of sudden ignorance naturally disappears, and like a boat going to land, the obscurations of the dharmakaya are purified and remain in a state of possessing both. Like this, the essence of the dharmakaya, the stainless awareness, is not something to be changed in any way, because it exists in the ultimate state of liberation, like waking up from sleep. The nature of the alaya is like being asleep, it is the basis for the appearance of various illusions and dreams, so it needs to be awakened from sleep. As it says in that very text: "The analogy of illusion and liberation is like sleeping and waking. Because the faculties are different." That is to say, the alaya and the things that depend on it are impurities to be purified, so the aspects of sleep and dreams need to be changed. However, the essence of the dharmakaya, the stainless awareness, is something to be accustomed to temporarily, and it is the basis for ultimate realization and liberation, so it is not something to be changed at any time. Because it is the place of liberation of the fruit. If we differentiate, there is the alaya of the original meaning, the alaya of the combining meaning, the alaya of the habitual body, and the alaya of diverse habitual patterns and the basis. The first of these is spoken of from the perspective of the realm itself, from the initial movement of discriminating awareness, relying on ignorance, corresponding to the opening of samsara. The second is that the discriminating consciousness itself, because of ignorance, combines with samsara, and from its own nature of awareness, it combines with nirvana. The third is named from the aspect of the earth's nature being flesh, the water's nature being blood, the fire's nature being light, and the wind's nature being the appearance of the mind-body, because that consciousness itself has the habitual patterns of the body. The fourth is spoken of from the aspect of relying on the various habitual patterns of the mind of that consciousness itself. Although four changes are spoken of in this way, they are actually one entity. The relationship between the dependent alaya and the depending eight consciousnesses exists in the manner of consciousness. Because there is no interruption between inside and outside, it is named the alaya consciousness. The sense consciousness has its own non-conceptual awareness of the five objects.
