The realm of form arising from... The formless realm arising from increased mindfulness. The desire realm arises from grasping distinctions in mindfulness, hence it is shown as the wish-fulfilling tree. Bodhi is the alaya-vijnana that obscures awareness, not thinking of anything, like an egg, from which arise the three: object, sense consciousness, and feeling, symbolized by the egg and moisture, that is, the union of sun and moon. The realm gathered by the inner mind has two types: the outer realm that gathers sentient beings, and the self-nature realm arising from the nature of mind itself. The outer realm is: the realm of form arising from sentient beings' mindfulness as its basis, the formless realm arising from increased mindfulness, and the desire realm arising from grasping distinctions in mindfulness. These are explained in scriptures and so on. The fundamental ignorance that is the basis of delusion is: the basis of delusion arises from its own impurity. First, ignorance arises as the causal condition, which is the fundamental ignorance of not knowing. From this arises the deluded object as the objective condition, such as ignorance of the object. From this arises the dominant condition, such as the arising of self-grasping towards a tree. From this arises the immediately preceding condition, where consciousness becomes coarse and grasps the grasped. From this, afflictions become coarse. This is called the fundamental ignorance that is the basis of delusion. The ignorance of grasping and conceptualization is: from this, countless collections of afflictions arise. This is like this: the six grasping minds arise. The mind corresponding to ignorance, the mind of mental consciousness, the mind of determination, the mind of universal seeking, the mind of extreme coarseness, and the mind of certainty. This is like this: the mind that corresponds to and possesses ignorance is like this: the root is the actual awareness, and it possesses the movement of mind. This is the mind that corresponds to and possesses ignorance. Mental consciousness is called mental consciousness because it is grasped by the thought 'this is mine' towards the object, grasping at self and what belongs to self, therefore being dominated by afflictions. With the mind of determination, grasping the object with the thought 'this is my object', attachment arises towards it, therefore it is called determination. The mind of universal seeking is dominated by the object, gathering all subtle afflictions. Therefore...

It is called the mind that seeks everywhere. The coarse mind refers to killing with coarse afflictions and doing many things that violate vows. The mind of determination is: Thinking that those appearances are mine and thinking that they are others, that is the mind of determination. That is called ignorance of clinging and conceptualization. Artificial ignorance of the path is: The six minds gather and obscure the path of wisdom, that is, the mind does not see wisdom and does not make it clear. There is no realization of wisdom, because the mind has movement, so it obscures the path to Buddhahood. That is called artificial ignorance of the path. Ignorance of unknowing delusion is: Because one does not know that one exists in the light of one's own appearance, one revolves again and again, therefore one revolves in samsara. That is the ignorance of unknowing delusion. Thus, six kinds of ignorance arise, therefore one does not know the appearance of wisdom. So it is said. Then, in connection with the consciousness of the extremely coarse collection of six objects, therefore, the nature of the Tathagatagarbha, the mind free from elaboration, this mind without self-nature is also bound, clinging to I and mine, therefore confused in dream-like samsara, clinging to self, and also becoming a deluded one with various appearances. Some are light, some are darkness, some are nectar, some are water and fire, all are extremely contradictory thoughts, habits follow without fixed standards and without sacred teachings. So it is said. Thus, in the *Lotus Play Sutra*, the son of the gods, Lotus Play, said to Manjushri: Manjushri, are these external objects made by the maker, or how should they be viewed? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, these external objects are not made by the maker, but are appearances of the habits of the mind or conceptualization. The son of the gods said: How can habits grow, and mountains, seas, sun, moon, etc. become hard and solid, how can they appear? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, they can appear. In the great city of Varanasi (an ancient Indian city), a Brahmin named Fire Offering contemplated his body as a tiger. The people of the city saw the tiger and fled, and the city became empty. Similarly, contemplating earth and water will appear as earth and water. Yogis
