And, not abandoning by seizing with skillful means. Firstly, if one realizes that the nature of afflictions is without essence, it is the way to liberation. In the Sutra of Definitive Meaning, it is also said: "Isn't it liberation by abandoning desire, hatred, and ignorance?" The answer is: "Whoever abandons desire, hatred, and ignorance is liberated." This is said to the arrogant. For those who are without self, the very nature of desire, hatred, and ignorance is liberation. Like a lotus that does not grow from cold in winter, but grows from water and mud. Similarly, the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment does not arise in the minds of hearers and solitary realizers who have abandoned afflictions and have non-intentional views. Rather, after generating a view of the aggregates like Mount Meru, they will generate the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Therefore, afflictions are the lineage of the Tathagata. This is what the noble Vimalakirti taught. In particular, in the Mantrayana section, it is said that by the truth of directly realizing Suchness, afflictions do not appear as having inherent existence, so they are naturally pure and cannot be abandoned. Moreover, the five afflictions themselves are the lineage, nature, and activity of the five Buddha families, so it has been repeatedly taught that it is impossible to achieve anything by abandoning afflictions. Secondly, for example, with regard to desire, although it abides in the characteristic of clinging to the five aggregates of grasping and being particularly attached, if one relies on it as a path, giving alms will accumulate a collection of merit. Similarly, discipline and patience can also create a great accumulation, as it is said in the Mahayana scriptures: "Without desire, there will be no view of the aggregates. Without the view of self and what belongs to self, courage will not arise. Therefore, for those who have a view of the aggregates like Mount Meru, courage like Mount Meru will arise. Those who generate courage like Mount Meru will be able to generate the mind to liberate, deliver, and lead to Nirvana all sentient beings as boundless as the expanse of the sky by myself alone." Furthermore, Bodhi

Bodhisattvas, having perfected their bodies through aspiration in all realms, when working for the benefit of all sentient beings, if they are not moistened by the moisture of afflictions, there is no way for the sprout of Bodhi to manifest. Therefore, this should not be abandoned. Those who have entered the Great Vehicle should regard afflictions as parents and spiritual friends. Thus it is said. Based on this, the way to engage in the practice of the six perfections is also: Whatever one is most happy to give away, That is said to be supreme. As it is said, up to: Even if limbs with attachment are severed, Non-anger is the complete perfection of patience. This serves as an example. Especially in the self-path of mantra, for example, if one does not rely on the nature of mantra, it will not become the cause of wisdom and accomplishment. Other afflictions such as hatred are also the conditions for the qualities to be accomplished, and for those who lack skillful means, they are also the conditions for the faults to arise. Here, because it is grasped by both skillful means and wisdom, just as a peacock uses food as an aid, the nature of afflictions will be liberated into wisdom. The tantra says: Within what is completely grasped by mantra, It is not able to harm all. Likewise, by the power of skillful means, The three poisons and suffering cannot harm. Thus it is said. Therefore, ignorance is the samaya of Vairochana, because in the realm of Dharma, wisdom itself is not established, so it is one taste with non-knowing. Hatred is the samaya of Akshobhya, it is the nature of subduing the violent ones. Pride is the samaya of Ratnasambhava, it is the nature of establishing oneself in the equality of Dharmata. Desire is the samaya of Amitabha, it is the nature of freely controlling all Dharmas. Jealousy is the samaya of Amoghasiddhi, it is the nature of taming those who have not realized the equality of Dharmata and are deficient in their views of clinging to things. The second aspect is the five great amritas, which must be taken, so one should enjoy them in the Dharmata. Knowing them to be the nature of the five families, one should take them. Because they are the samaya substances for accomplishing siddhis, one should take them. Because the Dakinis gather and siddhis are near, one should take them. Because they are the conduct of all Buddhas, one should take them. Thus says the root tantra.
