I, Shantipa, as it is said, "One should not measure Dharma with standards," analyze with a mind that views the selfless Dharma as having self. In the state of a beginner, one holds onto the attachment to the view that is the object of hearing and thinking as being real. Even when measuring the inconceivable Dharma-nature with sharp reasoning of analysis and adding one's own ideas and abiding in equanimity, one arises again from the Dharma-nature of self-nature in the manner of focusing on the characteristic of freedom from elaboration. And thinking that the nature of the view is just like this, with an attachment that has not separated from the consciousness of the eight aggregates, one analyzes that and that, which is said to be a root downfall, namely, "Analyzing that and that emptiness." Twelve, not teaching the Dharma to those who are suitable vessels for mantra, or who possess the three faiths and have a desire for Dharma: By evil intention, one makes others' minds weary, thereby turning their intention to the wrong path. To those who are suitable vessels for mantra, that is, those who are qualified to receive the guru's oral instructions, or even if not, but are naturally upright, and possess the three faiths of intention, conviction, and devotion, one does not teach the Dharma by turning away their faces, according to their respective capacities and inclinations. Although one has the ability to benefit them, one does not do so due to evil intention. And, with the thought of wanting to turn them away from the path they believe in, one makes their minds weary. Or, with deceit and unlawful thoughts and actions, one turns their intention from acting according to Dharma to the wrong path, and connects them with the non-path. As Shantipa said, "Turning away sentient beings who have faith." Thirteen, viewing the substances of vows to be purified as one's own, thereby developing aversion to some and attachment to others: Failing to truly incorporate the practice of mantra into one's practice, thereby wandering in two extremes. There are two situations: becoming a root downfall of unsurpassed yoga, and the way of becoming a root downfall of yoga and common. The first situation is that, because actions are related to time, therefore, when accepting the substances of vows to be purified, such as the five meats, the five ambrosias, food and drink such as meat and alcohol, and the symbolic representations of times such as the gathering wheel of the nature of desirable qualities such as dance, music, song, and consort, or the feast of heroes and heroines, even if there are no special prohibitions, and one has the ability

Or, because of observing the lineage, one cannot generate faith, or like the five meats and five amṛtas, one is tormented by the conceptual thoughts of one's own mind and cannot accept them, but indulges in meat, alcohol, and other desires with a relaxed attitude. Or, one suppresses the mind with the discipline of a Śrāvaka, accompanied by doubt. In short, like nāgas and Brahmins, one is bound by the dualistic clinging to purity and impurity, or like dogs and pigs, one acts in a crazy manner. Without falling into either of these extremes, one should accept with the realization of the equality of dharmatā, as it says in the Amṛta Source: "Purity and impurity are both conceptual thoughts. The wise do not dwell even in the middle." Like that. The second is the vajra and bell, hand gestures, and so on. Because one does not know their true nature, one mocks them without any respect or certainty. For example, the bell represents the nature of the five families of buddhas, and is a support for the samaya of the union of method and wisdom. If one does not treat it with respect, but instead throws it away with contempt, or shakes it with a mind that does not obscure reality, then, as it says, "That mindless yogi is like an elephant shaking a bell," it will also become a transgression. Similarly, for hand gestures and so on, if one only sees the changes in hand movements, and then slanders and mocks them in public, as it says in the Great Commentary on the Glorious Supreme One, "Because of lack of faith, one mocks," this is said to be a state beyond samaya. Fourteen, yoginīs and others are beyond the world. Māmas, ḍākinīs, and others hold the boundaries. The elements of the five elements are viewed in one's own mind. Women who are the basis of power are reviled. If this is interpreted broadly, then if one slanders the wisdom ḍākinīs who show the form of women, such as the motivating mother, Ekajaṭī, and Vajravārāhī, then one has committed a root downfall of both yoga and anuttarayoga. In general, although the terms māma and ḍākinī do not reside on the boundary of being completely beyond or not beyond, the terms Vajravārāhī and yoginī are mentioned as a category of those who are beyond the world, and in terms of what is directly indicated, even if one has already resided on the ground of the noble ones, from the perspective of worldly dharma, they still have the appearance of samsara, as it says in the twenty-second chapter of the Blazing Flame, "This ḍākinī goddess, the black woman."
