Therefore, it depends on understanding correctly and as it is. Now, do not be discouraged by those with small intellects, for if you do not strive to learn according to your own intellectual capacity, there will be bias towards the Dharma and people. Therefore, accustom yourself to thoroughly studying and contemplating the object of practice itself, and learn to ultimately increase the power of wisdom. Why? Even if the scope of the object of practice is small, if you thoroughly study and contemplate it, you will experience its meaning without confusion. If you go on the right path in this way, then the wisdom arising from practice will arise within you, because it is established through valid cognition. Therefore, as a sign that the practice is not mistaken, the more you practice, the more the wisdom of discernment should increase, because the nature of wisdom that aims at suchness and the extent of suchness is the wisdom of insight. Moreover, the classification of wisdom is twofold: the realization of conventional truth and the realization of ultimate truth. The first is, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "If one does not strive in the five fields of knowledge, even the supreme noble ones will not become omniscient. Therefore, one should strive for this in order to subdue others, to take care of others, and to know everything oneself." As it says, in order to subdue those who do not believe in the Dharma, one should study grammar and logic; in order to take care of those who have faith, one should study crafts and medicine; and in order to know everything oneself, one should seek inner knowledge, which is the special need of this time. If you generate bodhicitta to seek all of this in order to attain Buddhahood, there is no special difference. Here, in order to measure the suchness of selflessness from the perspective of general meaning and from the perspective of manifestation, in order to establish the key of the wisdom that measures and the treasure of the sacred Dharma that is measured, the correct positioning of the two truths is: The Dharma that is measured is measured by the wisdom that measures, and is divided into four types: direct, metaphorical, ambiguous, and intentional. The nature of all dharmas is suchness, and that which abides in the three doors of liberation is definitive meaning. In order for the phenomena that appear as entities to enter the path, measuring through reasoning and affirming is the path of direct statement. Through these two methods, one should know which direct and definitive meanings one should rely on and which one should not. This is reading the scriptures.

is the key. Therefore, the nature of all dharmas enters the gate of liberation, which is emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, and attains the fruit of non-manifestation, being free from attachment, abandoning hatred, thoroughly destroying delusion, becoming without existence, and even in its essence, being without inherent existence, and being free from the three states of arising, abiding, and ceasing. This is the definitive meaning. The appearance of phenomena, as they seem to appear, with their arising and ceasing, coming and going, purification and liberation, aggregates, elements, sense bases, and so forth, in various forms, and all that is taught by imputation, which is accessible to the mind, thought, and speech, and measurable by the power of intelligence, is called provisional meaning. As it is said in the Sutra taught by the noble Inexhaustible Intellect: What is a Sutra of definitive meaning? What is a Sutra of provisional meaning? Those Sutras that are taught for the purpose of entering the path are called provisional meaning. Those Sutras that are taught for the purpose of entering the fruit are called definitive meaning. Those Sutras that explain various terms such as self, sentient being, life, person, individual, born of power, possessor of power, agent, feeler, and those that teach what is without a lord as having a lord, are called provisional meaning. Those Sutras that teach emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-manifestation, unborn, non-existent, non-object, selfless, without sentient beings, without life, without individual, without a lord, and without even the gate of liberation, are called definitive meaning. Therefore, one should rely on the Sutras of definitive meaning and not rely on the Sutras of provisional meaning. So it is said. Furthermore, if analyzed in detail, it is a way of measuring with a system that possesses four reliances. O son of Sharadvati, these are the inexhaustible four reliances of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? They are: rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness; rely on the Sutras of definitive meaning, rely on the Sutras of provisional meaning.
