Having seen this, confess to the protector with a firm resolve. I confess to the Three Jewels, as well as to parents or other teachers, whatever harm has been done through the gates of afflictions, with body, speech, and mind, and the sins caused by many faults, whatever sins of mine, the sinful one, whatever extremely unpleasant things have been done, I confess all of that to the guides. Before my sins are purified, I might die first. How can I definitely be liberated from this? Please protect me in a swift manner. Having confessed thus, rise up from the downfall. In general, whether it is a root downfall or a branch downfall, in short, everything that has not been remedied due to negligence and lack of mindfulness, should be recited three times the Sutra of the Three Heaps in the presence of the Three Jewels, during the day and night, and by remembering the Buddha and the mind of enlightenment, it will be restored. As it is said in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Three times during the day and night, one should recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps, relying on the Victorious Ones and the mind of enlightenment, the remaining sins will be pacified." Therefore, because of fearing the faults of falling, it is not advisable to be discouraged by thinking that one cannot do it now, and to abandon effort. One should raise one's spirits like a garuda, like a crow encountering the corpse of a dead snake, and by diligently studying the precepts, one will attain the state of not being defeated by downfalls. As it is said there: "If one encounters a dead snake, even a crow behaves like a garuda. If one is weak, even small sins can harm. How can one escape poverty by being timid and abandoning effort? By generating pride and effort, even the great are difficult to subdue. Therefore, one should strengthen this mind and subdue all downfalls. If I am defeated by sins, the desire to conquer the three realms will be a joke. I shall conquer everything, and not let anyone conquer me." Therefore, in order to plant the seeds of Buddhahood in the minds of many beings and to be able to bestow great benefits, the way of generating the mind of enlightenment according to the Madhyamaka school is broad, and even ordinary people who rely on the household life can generate the mind of enlightenment and can serve as the basis for the vows of a Bodhisattva, therefore it is called Manjushri, like the offspring of a Kalaviṅka.

For example, a bird chirping inside its eggshell indicates that among sentient beings in the three realms, not to mention those who merely possess the Pratimoksha vows, all beings such as gods, nagas, yakshas, etc., who can understand language and meaning, can generate the Bodhicitta vows, and can vow to abandon any wrongdoing, and all who have the desire to receive, for those who have already generated and will generate the Bodhicitta vows, if there is no cause for abandoning them, they will not abandon the vows even after death, and because they possess awakened compassion, they are called sons or daughters of the lineage. In terms of meaning, if one possesses unwavering thoughts towards the Buddha and sentient beings due to the distinction of emptiness and compassion, then even if they enjoy the five desirable qualities, they are still virtuous and disciplined, so as mentioned before, their chariot rope can also be placed on the head of the Tathagata, which is a praise. The "Compendium" says: If a Bodhisattva enjoys the five desirable qualities, but takes refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and thinks of achieving Buddhahood, aspiring to omniscience, then the wise should consider them to be abiding in the perfection of discipline. Furthermore, as stated in the scriptures: Bodhisattvas enjoy the five desirable qualities together with sixty-eight thousand excellent women. In accordance with this, the "Fierce Question Sutra" also states that lay Bodhisattvas can also enjoy the five desires. If this were not the case, then even the noble ones who have realized the two selflessnesses would not be praised because they lack great compassion. Those who aim to benefit others, but abandon the burden of generating Bodhicitta because they cannot endure the hardships of benefiting others, their actions are worse than committing a downfall of the Pratimoksha vows. The sutra says: If one practices virtuous deeds for hundreds of millions of kalpas, but only desires to achieve self-liberation as an Arhat, then at that time the discipline will have faults, and the discipline will be destroyed. The discipline is broken, and one is not proficient in the Dharma, and likewise, one's actions will be degraded. Abandoning Bodhicitta is even heavier than committing a root downfall. Therefore, if one uses the mixed vows of the two traditions of Acharya Bhavyamukha and Abhayakaragupta as a basis, and distinguishes the tenets of Madhyamaka and Cittamatra, it will be incorrect. Because the basis for receiving vows is the householder and the renunciate...
