Therefore, from all aspects and in all circumstances, learning to exchange one's own happiness for the suffering of sentient beings is the supreme method of mind training. As it is said in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: "If one does not perfectly exchange one's own happiness for the suffering of others, one cannot become a Buddha, and even in samsara, there is no happiness. Let alone the next life, even in this life, like a servant who is not given wages, how can one accomplish this benefit?" Therefore, in the initial stage, just as one likes to be complete, other sentient beings also like it. Just as one does not want to suffer, other sentient beings are the same. Therefore, observing that protecting oneself and abandoning others is not good, one should view self and others as equal. Familiarize yourself with this, and take all sentient beings under your own responsibility, and when your own happy breath goes out, visualize giving happiness to others. When inhaling, visualize taking the suffering of others into yourself, and practice this giving and taking. As mentioned earlier: "With an army without laziness, fully accept self-control, view self and others as equal, exchange self and others." Thus, when contemplating the great deeds of a Bodhisattva, if one feels afraid and lazy, thinking that one is not capable of doing it, one should generate courage like a sparrow building a nest on a rock. Accept it fully like a peacock cherishing its feathers. Control yourself like an eagle soaring in the sky. After doing so, in the past, I regarded all sentient beings as my parents, but I did not strive for them, and I used others for my own sake, so that I am still a slave to kings and others. Therefore, now one should contemplate for the benefit of other sentient beings, with the courage to happily destroy oneself, and practice not separating from the mind of enlightenment. As that treatise says: "If one harms others for oneself, one will suffer hell and other sufferings. If one harms oneself for others, one will obtain all perfections. Those who desire to be superior,

Stupidity and dementia will descend. If this is transferred to others, Growth in happiness and respect will be obtained. If others are used for one's own sake, Suffering such as slavery will be experienced. If one uses oneself for the sake of others, The status of monarchs and leaders will be experienced. All the happiness in the world, Arises from the desire for others' well-being. All the suffering in the world, Arises from the desire for one's own well-being. What need is there to say more? Look at how children act only for themselves, While the Buddha acts for others. See the difference between these two! Think well about this. Thus combined, it also abides in the nature of the four immeasurables. The beginning of the four also arises from gratitude, and from this, they are sequentially accomplished like cause and effect. The teachings of aspiration, the four immeasurables are also: From gratitude arises loving-kindness, From loving-kindness arises compassion, from compassion arises bodhicitta. The arising is truly accomplished by the reasoning of measure. Regarding this, the Bengali Pandit considers knowing (all beings as) mother, remembering kindness, repaying kindness, delightful loving-kindness, pure higher intention, great compassionate love, and the supreme result itself to be the sevenfold causal and resultant key instructions. Therefore, after regarding all sentient beings as mothers, the way to remember their kindness: Like a newborn infant, The mother's lap is like a bathroom, Touching all impurities with her hands. The mother, regardless of hardship, touches and covers with her body. The young child would rather die than have the mother suffer. Being able to endure all sins, suffering, and evil words, If such kindness and respect are trampled upon, What could be more shocking than this? Thus it is said. Then, by what reason do we know that all sentient beings have been my parents? In the Sutra of the Great Nirvana of the Holy One, it says: If this great earth were made into balls the size of peas, and if the number of times a sentient being has been my parent were counted, this great earth would be exhausted, but the number of times a sentient being has been a parent cannot be exhausted. Therefore, for such helpless, newly born sentient beings, like worms or frogs, whose limbs and extremities have not yet fully developed, although they can feel pleasure and pain, their sensory faculties are weakened, and when looked at,
