Liberation is attained upon seeing it. This is known as the supreme method of repentance. Thus it is. However, if a beginner examines the nature of transgressions and elaborates on them, it indicates a lack of understanding of the essence of that scripture. If purification is achieved merely by contemplating emptiness, then even the secret words of nihilists would have meaning. Therefore, if one has a firm experience of reality and genuinely practices the meaning of being without both confession and practice, then, as stated in the Bodhisattva Pitaka: "A Bodhisattva who knows that actions are without essence and without fruition obtains the purification of the obscuration of wisdom." Thus it is. The two points mentioned earlier are directed towards individuals of middling faculties. It is best for beginners to rely on the four powers. However, it is not reasonable to consider someone not a beginner merely because they are older or entered the path earlier. The term "beginner" is widely used in the world, but it is not entirely accurate. The Tathagata spoke of ordinary beings as children, referring to those whose minds, while not wanting suffering, still desire the causes of suffering, such as blaming others. Therefore, it is said: "Children who disagree with each other are not weary of desires." Thus, it is reasonable to consider most people today as beginners. The power of reliance is the virtuous friend who possesses the Mahayana vows of shame and embarrassment, and the special presence of the Tathagata, as well as visualizing in the sky before oneself the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, especially before the deity who vows to restore the transgressions of Bodhisattvas, Akashagarbha, relying on refuge in one's own mindstream, and with compassion focusing on sentient beings, and with wisdom focusing on perfect enlightenment, the mind of skillful means and wisdom combined, all of these are excellent. The power of repudiation is to not conceal the transgressions that have occurred, but to state their names and confess with strong remorse. The power of applying remedies is to recite the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, build statues and stupas, repair damaged items, heal illnesses, circumambulate stupas, recite profound sutras and tantras, and recite the Hundred Syllable Mantra, etc., to purify sins and obscurations.

Therefore, the key to purifying sins and meditative absorption, etc., is known as the six methods of applying antidotes. As stated in the Sutra of Great Compassion: The power of offering to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is as great as the power, and it depends on how pure the mind is. Ananda, if one says to prostrate to the Buddha, Ananda, the meaning of that word is like this: The sound of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is not meaningless. If someone says to prostrate to the Buddha, it will not be meaningless. Even the smallest root of virtue planted in the Tathagatas will not be wasted. Even if one generates a single thought of purity, all of it will eventually lead to Nirvana. Therefore, there is scriptural evidence representing everything, but the burden of words is heavy. The power of restoration is: From now on, even if faced with life-threatening situations, one must vow not to do anything that would lead to sin. In general, for these sins, one must also understand the differences in accumulation based on the differences in objects. For example, harming sentient beings due to anger, and harming the Dharma due to ignorance, both of these are great accumulations. Other than that, attachment and hatred, etc., are smaller accumulations. In any case, one should please with the four opponent powers and the seven-branch offering, and confess in this way: If the object of confession is actually present, then, Bodhisattva Mahasattva, please listen. I, named so-and-so, have committed these sins. For the sake of all sentient beings, please purify through confession. Say this three times. The object of confession will ask: Do you see these sins as sins? Will you guard against them in the future? In response, say: I see them as sins, I will guard against them. Saying this will liberate one from sins, as stated in the Bodhipathapradipa. If the object of confession is not actually present, then: Those who dwell in all directions, The perfect Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Those who possess great compassion, Joining palms, I pray: From beginningless samsara, In this life or other lives, The sins I have unknowingly committed, Or caused others to commit, Controlled by the delusion of ignorance, Whatever I have rejoiced in, All these faults
