The ocean of suffering for sentient beings is boundless and vast. As it is said, in the midst of worldly perfections, no one achieves meditative absorption. Therefore, our teacher cultivated the practice of enlightenment for countless eons, also because he abandoned the rule of a wheel-turning king and went to a solitary place. Thus, although worldly wealth arises from dependence on a household, its nature can be present or absent in an instant, like a cloud that suddenly appears in the sky. Even the time it exists briefly is the nature of suffering, as stated in the "Six Aspects of Meditative Absorption": The affairs of a household are suffering; they never become happiness. If a snake sees another place, entering it increases happiness. As it is said. For example, a snake, unable to bear being troubled by many young ones in its own nest, enters another cave and obtains happiness. Similarly, the life of a household is troubled by cultivation, me, taxes, and armies. There are many things that interrupt life due to the fruits produced by common causes such as killing, and one is trapped in the prison of the three sufferings. Most actions contradict the results of karma, and it is a source of decline, like a harmful waterfall. Busy when accumulating, tired when guarding, and there is no end when multiplying. The three desires disturb the mind, as stated in the "Letter to a Friend": The suffering of accumulating, guarding, and seeking, know that it is endless decline. As it is said. A little wealth leads to arrogance and hatred of others' jealousy. If it decreases from that, one becomes worried and stingy. The arising of miserliness increases greatly, and one indulges in the faults of desire without caution, which leads to boundless lower realms. In the "Letter to a Lama," it says: With a confused mind, craving desire, one destroys oneself and others. Even if the gods rain down desires, those with desires will not be satisfied. As it is said. Therefore, if one abandons the source of all desires—the household—then suffering will disappear. Therefore, one should also be cautious about entering the monastery's residence as if it were a household, and striving to reduce activities is very precious in the degenerate age. Material possessions are the root of suffering.

Regarding the transformation of the teachings: Things shrouded by the clouds of deceit are considered valuable. The more wealth one accumulates, the more sources of suffering arise. Possessions that are hoarded are abandoned due to harm from enemies and thieves. Those who are content and know satisfaction reach the pinnacle of wealth. Therefore, worldly enjoyments rely on many deceitful actions such as trade, which lead to faults falling upon individuals. Deceit involves a mind that is cunning, while deception involves the intention to deceive others. The combination of these two leads to experiencing feelings akin to the darkness of rain clouds in summer. Tormented by desires from all directions, greed often lurks, and one becomes accustomed to stealing. Speaking falsely and fully embracing the idea of self-importance leads to a rapid decline in Bodhicitta. Robbing, harming the lives of others, enslaving, and driving animals, enduring torment and abuse on long and treacherous paths, and so on—in short, almost all ten non-virtuous actions are experienced imperceptibly, resulting in extremely dark karmic consequences. Even if one becomes wealthy, there is no contentment. Enemies and thieves abound. There is fear of losing existing enjoyments, hope for more, and fighting and arguing with others. The more wealth one has, the greater and more numerous the sufferings become. As stated before: "For the sake of worldly possessions, there is strife; without worldly possessions, there is no strife. From completely abandoning worldly possessions, happiness increases like that of an osprey." For example, when an osprey catches a fish, other ospreys chase and fight over it until it drops the fish. As soon as it drops the fish, the fighting ceases, and it rests happily. Similarly, the more worldly enjoyments one has, the greater the suffering of fighting and arguing becomes. Completely abandoning worldly enjoyments and having nothing means there is no torment of suffering, and happiness is attained. Therefore, those without wealth are the opposite, and because they have few affairs, it is easier to achieve meditation. In particular: "Among all riches, contentment is the best, as the teacher of gods and humans has said. Always be content; if you are content, even without wealth, you are truly rich." As mentioned before. The faults of associating with ordinary people are: The nature of ordinary people is childish. Children are covered by clouds of wrongdoing.
