Virtues. With the six perfections and the two accumulations, to generate ungenerated virtues, and to increase those already generated, the accumulation of virtuous dharmas, called discipline, is encompassed by the training of the mind. The virtue embraced by loving-kindness and compassion is giving, wherever it benefits sentient beings. Therein, without self-interest is discipline, and without weariness for the sake of others is patience. Especially entering with joy is diligence, single-mindedly for the benefit of sentient beings is meditation, and abandoning attachment to real characteristics is wisdom. The six perfections are never separate. In all four modes of conduct, possess mindfulness. The virtuous accumulation of completely pure conduct, the familiar raising and lowering are also the path of the six perfections. Effortless entry swiftly completes the two accumulations. Thus, all the dharmas that are the cause of Buddhahood are the six perfections, or their nature is completely gathered by the two accumulations, hence it is called the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas. Moreover, the way to practice based on the six minds, from the Compendium: A Bodhisattva who strives in the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, if summarized, should examine the six minds separately. What are the six? Namely, the mind of intentionally killing, the mind possessing laziness, the mind of obscuration, the mind of weariness from searching, and the mind possessing obstacles. Thus, the characteristic of maturing one's own continuum by applying to virtuous dharmas with minds free from their respective opposing factors has already been explained before. In particular, applying to this with love and great compassion, and possessing primarily the virtues of body and speech, gathering non-common virtuous dharmas as a great pervasive factor for all, is considered the characteristic of accumulating virtuous dharmas. However, as explained by the teacher Yönten Ö (ཡོན་ཏན་འོད།), since meditation and wisdom abide within the six perfections, the three wisdoms of hearing, thinking, and meditating are generated. For the sake of gathering the training of the mind with the training of concentration, calm abiding, and the training of wisdom, insight, if expressed in terms of its own essential aspect, in the Sutra Requested by Brahma's Special Mind, it says: Not thinking is generosity, not abiding is discipline, not making any distinction is patience, without acceptance or rejection is diligence.

It is said: Non-attachment is samadhi, non-duality is wisdom. Measuring the activities of tirelessly benefiting sentient beings, wherever one does things to benefit sentient beings, that is generosity; having no selfish intention in that is morality; no matter how diligently one strives for the benefit of others, not becoming weary is patience; engaging as if with joy is diligence; focusing one's mind on that is meditative concentration; not regarding those as real and as characteristics is wisdom. The mind of enlightenment, in all its aspects, is endowed with excellence, and all virtuous dharmas are gathered into the nature of the six perfections. All four modes of conduct are the manner of accumulating virtue with completely pure fields of action, as stated in the Avatamsaka Sutra: When a bodhisattva enters a house, they generate the thought that all sentient beings may attain the city of liberation. Similarly, when sleeping, may I attain the Dharma body of the Buddha; when dreaming, may I realize that all dharmas are like dreams; when waking up, may I awaken from ignorance; when rising, may I attain the form body of the Buddha; when dressing, may I put on the garment of shame and modesty; when tying a belt, may I be connected with the roots of virtue; when sitting on a cushion, may I attain the vajra seat; when leaning back, may I attain the bodhi tree; when lighting a fire, may I burn the firewood of afflictions; when it is blazing, may the fire of wisdom blaze; when it is cooked, may I attain the nectar of wisdom; when eating food, may I attain the food of meditative concentration; when going out, may I be liberated from the city of samsara; when descending the stairs, may I enter samsara for the benefit of sentient beings; when opening the door, may I open the door of the city of liberation; when closing the door, may I close the door to the lower realms; when entering a path, may I enter the noble path; when going upwards, may I place all sentient beings in the happiness of the heavens; when going downwards, may I cut off the stream of the three lower realms; when meeting a sentient being, may I meet the Buddha; when placing my foot, may I go for the benefit of all sentient beings; when lifting my foot, may I liberate them from samsara; when seeing someone adorned, may I attain the adornment of marks and signs; when seeing someone unadorned, may I be endowed with the qualities of practice; when seeing a vessel full, may I be filled with qualities; when seeing a vessel empty, may I be empty of faults; sentient beings are happy.
