Moreover, with regard to the temporary, the Ratnamala says: "Generosity brings enjoyment, discipline brings happiness, patience brings radiance, diligence brings majesty, meditation brings peace, and wisdom brings liberation." With regard to the ultimate, it was said earlier: "The Form Body, in short, arises from the accumulation of merit; the Dharma Body, in short, arises from the accumulation of wisdom." Thus, the discipline of gathering pure Dharma resides in the nature of the six perfections, so the content expressed is also completely mixed. Everything generates the path arising in one's own mindstream, and causes the path that has already arisen to not decline, but to increase more and more. Third, the discipline of benefiting sentient beings is: the mind that engages in benefiting others in all ways, directly or indirectly, together with the corresponding mental activities, is its nature. That is to say, if one does not completely rely on the four objects of gathering, one will not be able to accomplish the meaning that should be learned, so the Lotus Garland also says: "With the fan of generosity, skillfully invite." etc., as mentioned earlier. First, skillfully gather sentient beings with the generosity of material things, then guide their minds with pleasant words, causing them to generate the intention, desire, and joy of pursuing the practice of the sacred Dharma, thereby causing the trainees to practice the corresponding Dharma meanings according to their respective capacities. Like this, for those who believe in the Lesser Vehicle, temporarily take them in with the Dharma corresponding to it, and then gradually guide them to the right path; for those who believe in the extremely profound and vast Dharma, one must be skilled in taming them by using methods related to behavior and timing. Teacher Shantideva said: "Do not show the superior Dharma to the inferior, the vast vessel should not be given the small Dharma." Thus, in order to make others enter the right path by any means, one must also abide in this, because if one has not practiced oneself, even if one guides others to enter or leave the wrong path, they will not listen, which is obvious. Among them, generosity can accomplish temporary benefits, pleasant words can accomplish the corresponding cause, practicing the meaning can accomplish the ultimate benefit of Dharma, and going together can make oneself follow.

Because it is the root of introducing the path of virtue, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Through generosity equal to that meaning, acceptance that follows oneself, loving speech and meaningful conduct, and behavior that is in accordance with the meaning, these are considered the four means of gathering." Thus, by gathering with the four means of gathering and being held by the generation of the mind of enlightenment, all that directly or indirectly accomplishes benefit and happiness for sentient beings is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. However, in the Bodhisattva Grounds, the ways of benefiting others are summarized into twelve aspects, which will be explained below based on examples. Thus, the essence of the three disciplines of a Bodhisattva is stated in the Ratnakuta Sutra: "The discipline of the Pratimoksha is to protect the mind from non-virtue. The discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas is to manifest the roots of virtue. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings is to accomplish benefit for others." Thus, both the Pratimoksha and the vows of a Bodhisattva, within them, the mind of enlightenment surpasses the Pratimoksha through four distinctions: The Pratimoksha only prevents harm to others and its basis. The Bodhisattva adds benefit on top of that. The Pratimoksha summarizes seven abandonments and mainly cuts off the actions of body and speech. The Bodhisattva mainly practices all ten abandonments. Among them, the precepts of the Pratimoksha are included as one aspect of the training of ordained individuals who hold the Bodhisattva vows. However, for ordained individuals who are not Bodhisattvas, it is transformed into a superior Dharma by adding training. Thus, the Pratimoksha relies on the discipline of abandoning misconduct in one's own mind-stream, merely preventing harm to others and its basis. The Bodhisattva adds benefiting others on top of not harming others, possessing all three: abandoning misconduct, gathering virtuous dharmas, and benefiting sentient beings. The Pratimoksha mainly focuses on the actions of body and speech, summarizing seven abandonments. The Bodhisattva mainly practices all ten abandonments, including the motivation. As stated in the Compendium of Perfections: "Becoming the path of happiness for higher realms and liberation, these ten paths of action should not be abandoned. By abiding in this, with the intention to benefit beings, the difference in intention will have a result. Speech, body, and mind are all pure."
