For the immeasurable merit of those to be tamed, as long as samsara exists, self-appearance is permanent. As it says in the Uttaratantra, "The lord of Dharma destroys the demon of death, and because its essence is without essence, the protector of the world is permanent." And in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, "The peaceful body is clear like a wish-fulfilling tree, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, it does not discriminate. Until beings are liberated, the wealth of the world is also permanent. This is appearance that is free from elaboration." Thus it is said. The Nirmāṇakāya is, from the very nature of the Dharma body's radiance playing in the form of the Sambhogakāya, appearing to those to be tamed in whatever way is appropriate for their taming, and is therefore called the great permanence. In the Uttaratantra it says, "Entering the peaceful path of the world, and the form that is fully ripened and the cause of scripture and realization, whatever it is, it remains permanent here, like the realm of form in the realm of space." That is, just as if there is a water vessel, there is a reflection of the moon, if there are beings to be tamed, there is a tamer. However, even if there is a moon, if there is no basis for it to appear, the image will naturally cease. Similarly, even if there is a Buddha, if there is no merit to create that Buddha, because there is no cause, there will be no result. Or, just as a rotten seed cannot grow, if there is no fortune, one cannot experience it. As it says in the Ornament for Clear Realization, "When the cause is fully ripened, to whom, with what, at what time, with what action it is beneficial, then it will appear." Just as the king of the gods rains down rain, but rotten seeds do not grow, even though the Buddhas come, those without fortune do not experience goodness. Thus it is said. There are three kinds of Nirmāṇakāya: the artistic Nirmāṇakāya, the birth Nirmāṇakāya, and the supreme enlightenment Nirmāṇakāya. As it says, "The Nirmāṇakāya of the Buddha is the great thread of liberation." Therefore, the artistic Nirmāṇakāya refers to things made by fabrication, represented by statues, paintings, and scriptures, or naturally formed, all things that benefit sentient beings. The birth Nirmāṇakāya refers to transforming into diseases, etc., or transforming into a great fish to relieve famine, like the sage with matted hair, Lion Victorious King, all those who can protect from great terrors. The supreme Nirmāṇakāya refers to Śākyamuni Buddha, who, in impure worlds, manifests from the Dharmakāya into the Rūpakāya, is contained by the three bodies, and shows the twelve deeds of the Buddha. As it says in the Uttaratantra, "With great compassion, he knows the world, the world"

Having gazed upon all beings, without moving from the Dharmakaya, with various natures of emanations, he manifests birth, descends from the Tushita heaven, enters the womb and is born, is skilled in crafts, delights with the retinue of consorts, renounces, practices austerities, goes to the Bodhi tree, subdues the Maras, perfects enlightenment, turns the wheel of Dharma, and manifests Nirvana. In impure realms, he shows existence until the end of samsara. This is the second, the distinction of the dependent wisdom: knowing the suchness of Dharma, and knowing all that is to be known. The first is: knowing directly the nature of oneself and all that is to be known, such as cause and effect, free from the extremes of elaboration. Therefore, it is also called the Wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, because the Dharma-nature is extremely peaceful. As it is said, in the Intermediate Mother Sutra: Knowing one Dharma is called knowing all Dharmas, which is the aspect of the peacefulness of Dharma-nature. The second has three aspects. The first, from the aspect of nature, is: knowing directly the nature of oneself and all that is to be known, such as cause and effect, like an illusion, without confusion or inversion. Compared to the former, in whatever way, with whatever signs, with whatever characteristics the Dharmas are described, the Tathagata comprehends those ways, those signs, those characteristics. As it is said. The second, from the perspective of classification, there are mirror-like wisdom, the wisdom of equality, discriminating wisdom, and accomplishing wisdom. The third, from the perspective of the causes of these, there are two: the enhancing condition is that, on the path of learning, hearing and holding many categories of Dharma, practicing equality between oneself and others, teaching Dharma to those who are to be tamed in accordance with their capacity, and doing things that benefit others, so that the stains of the four wisdoms of one's own place are purified, and the way in which the cause of accomplishment is made. In the Ornament of the Sutras, it is said: For the sake of holding and for the sake of equality of mind, and for the sake of truly teaching the excellent Dharma, and for the sake of the accomplishment of actions, the four wisdoms truly arise. As it is said. The cause of the nature of intention is: all of the wisdom of one's own place.
