Having said that, like this, engaging in the accumulation of all merit and wisdom, such as generosity with the essence of emptiness in meditative equipoise and compassion in the post-meditation state, is the path of accumulation. Whatever is the basis for newly arising Mahāyāna bodhicitta, by that, one first obtains Mahāyāna bodhicitta and can enter the lesser stage of the path of accumulation. In terms of the specific method of meditation, that path of accumulation has three stages: great, middling, and small. The small stage involves meditating on the four mindfulnesses. First, body mindfulness is meditating like the sky in meditative equipoise, and in the post-meditation state, meditating on impurity and illusion-like qualities. Feeling mindfulness is not generated in meditative equipoise, and in the post-meditation state, all feelings are meditated upon as suffering and as being without essence, like a banana tree. Mind mindfulness is meditating on emptiness of inherent existence in meditative equipoise, and in the post-meditation state, meditating on non-cessation and non-abiding. Dharma mindfulness is meditating on equality in meditative equipoise, and in the post-meditation state, meditating on the eight examples of illusion and so forth. Also, by meditating on the four mindfulnesses in the small stage, one enters the four truths of the path of seeing. Like this, first, by body mindfulness, one knows the body as suffering, and thus enters the knowledge of suffering. Second, by knowing feelings as suffering, one enters the abandonment of the origin. Third, by meditating on the mind as impermanent, one enters the manifestation of obstructing the clinging to permanence. Fourth, by meditating on dharmas as selfless, one turns away from clinging to self and enters the cultivation of the path. The *Madhyāntavibhāga* says: "To turn away from bad rebirths, for the sake of the cause of existence, for the sake of the basis, and also so as not to be deluded, if one wishes to enter the four truths, one should meditate on the mindfulnesses." This is the middling stage of the path of accumulation. Whatever non-virtuous dharmas have not arisen, one does not generate them; those that have arisen, one cuts off their continuity. And whatever virtuous dharmas have not arisen, one generates them; those that have arisen, one increases them further, engaging with diligence. And meditating on the antidote of selflessness and illusion or dreams, and so forth. The same text says: "Having fully understood all aspects of unfavorable factors and antidotes, diligence arises in four ways to abandon non-virtue." This is the great stage of the path of accumulation. The four legs of miraculous power are aspiration, diligence.

Through cultivating the four samādhis of mind's activity, the mind of meditative concentration becomes capable of achieving miracles, direct knowledge, and eyes, etc. Therefore, it is called the foot of miracles. As it was said before, "By dwelling in that capability, all meanings are accomplished." After that, swiftly connecting to the path of seeing with non-conceptual wisdom is the path of connection. The support of the body can be any of the five realms of existence, and the support of the mind can be any of the six meditative states. Among these, in the two stages of heat and peak, one should cultivate the five faculties of faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom. And in the two stages of forbearance and dharma, one should cultivate the five powers corresponding to the five faculties, such as the power of faith. As the *Madhyāntavibhāga* says, "The five faculties and the five powers, and the two corresponding pairs that distinguish them." That is to say, by generating purification, one destroys the aspects that are not in harmony with the faculties, and therefore it is called power. As it was said before, "Having generated the aspects that are in harmony with liberation, one controls with desire and effort, not forgetting the object, and also distinguishing non-distraction." And as the *Abhisamayālaṅkāra* says, "Because the non-corresponding aspects are weakened, therefore these are called powers." Furthermore, all phenomena of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa should be understood through the two truths. Therefore, one believes with faith, rejoices with diligence, does not forget with mindfulness, concentrates with samādhi, and cultivates with wisdom in the manner of understanding the nature. Furthermore, the four aspects of definitive discrimination exist in twelve states with the distinctions of small, medium, and large. As the *Abhisamayālaṅkāra* says, "Thus, the definitive discrimination aspects are small, medium, and large." For these, in sequence, one obtains the appearance of the Great Vehicle, the appearance increases, one enters into the same aspect of the appearance of dharma, and the samādhi immediately following that. The first is that, since all phenomena are seen as merely appearances of the mind, when external objects disappear, the appearance of knowledge becomes slightly clear, and this acts as an antidote to clinging to reality, and therefore it is called the heat stage. As the *Abhisamayālaṅkāra* says, "That which has become similar to that, when a Bodhisattva abides in equipoise, without understanding the expression of the mind, he does not see all things at all." The second is that the appearance of knowledge itself becomes clearer than before, therefore
