It is inferred that they are Arhats with residue. Because after Nirvana, they abide in the realm of no residue, the entry of matter and consciousness is cut off, and they no longer manifest the illusion of form bodies in other Buddha-fields, nor do they acknowledge the establishment of enjoyment of the complete Sambhogakaya, etc., nor do they acknowledge the non-abiding Nirvana that is different from the two, residue and no residue. Similarly, although they only acknowledge the establishment of the four pairs and eight types of persons, because they are individuals, they do not acknowledge them as the Sangha Jewel, but acknowledge the lives of learners and non-learners in their continuum as the Sangha Jewel. The Sutrantika: Whatever has the ability to function, that here is the ultimate truth, the rest is the conventional truth. This is also explained by the nature of self-character and general-character. The Sutrantika's doctrine is essentially in accordance with logic. Thus, from the aspect of clinging to truth, whoever acknowledges both external objects and self-awareness, and enters into the statement of the Hinayana doctrine, is the nature of the Sutrantika. From the perspective of classification, there are two types of Sutrantika: those who follow the scriptures and those who follow reason. The former believes that the seven Abhidharma treatises favored by the Vibhajyavada are the treatises of the seven Arhats, such as Shariputra, and speaks from that doctrine. The latter is explained from the seven treatises on valid cognition, etc., and relies on the Sutras to speak of the doctrine, so the name of the Dharma is attached to the individual, because all Dharmas are explained in relation to metaphors, so they are also known as the Exemplifiers. On the basis of Dharma, what is established as the truth of conventional truth? It is the consciousness that is merely imputed by conceptual thought that is conventional truth, because it obscures the seeing of the true nature of things with its own characteristics. Thus, the appearing object of conceptual thought is pervaded by the general characteristic, and the general characteristic and the non-existent Dharma and the conventional truth are in a relationship of co-extensiveness without otherness. The appearing object of direct perception is pervaded by the self-characteristic, and the self-characteristic and the real thing and the ultimate truth are in a relationship of co-extensiveness. Here, in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it is said: Whatever has the ability to function, that here is the ultimate truth, the rest is the conventional truth, these are all explaining the nature of self-characteristic and general-characteristic. It is in accordance with such a commitment to acknowledge that the essence is in accordance with logic.

And abide in harmony. Regarding the classification of the path, the aspects of the four noble truths, such as the sixteen aspects of impermanence, are merely the understanding of the emptiness of the person, which is expressed by name, that is, the wisdom that realizes the selflessness of the person. If one only cultivates the wisdom of realizing emptiness without combining it with skillful means, great compassion, etc., then it does not belong to the Hinayana school itself. If one combines that wisdom with the excellent intention to benefit sentient beings, then it is the way of practicing the Mahayana. The way of progressing on the path of the inferior and the superior is similar to the former, but in terms of the obstacles to be abandoned on the path, there are only the terms of the self-grasping of the person and the afflicted ignorance, as well as non-afflicted ignorance, etc., and it does not acknowledge the terms of grasping at the self of phenomena and the obscurations to knowledge, etc. From the perspective of the result, merely meditating on the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, abandoning only the afflicted ignorance, and manifesting the state of an Arhat is the Bodhi of the Hinayana. Similarly, the cessation of suffering, represented by the two, Nirvana, is considered the Dharma Jewel, and the path is considered the Sangha Jewel. If one cultivates in conjunction with the Mahayana path of skillful means, great compassion, etc., then the seeds of both ignorances will be uprooted, and through possessing three special qualities of abandonment and three special qualities of realization, from the Sugatas who have perfected their own benefit, one ultimately protects others by turning the wheel of Dharma of the four noble truths for the disciples and placing them in maturation and liberation, which is considered the fruit of unsurpassed Bodhi. In this regard, it is considered to be divided into four types in terms of lineage, as Jowo (Atisha) said: "The four types of Shravakas are emanation, transformation into perfect Bodhi, peaceful conduct, and adherence to tenets." Among them, the emanation Shravakas are Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, as well as the non-regressors, etc. From Nirvana, Devadatta and the group of six are also included in it. Transforming into perfect Bodhi refers to the way of transforming into a Buddha after obtaining forbearance on the path of application, as stated in the root verses of the Abhidharmakosha. If one practices peacefulness, then one enters as it is explained in one's own tradition. Adherence to tenets refers to those with Mahayana intention adhering to the tenets of the Shravakas. On this, the Ornament of the Sutras says:
