Pray! May the great Vajradhara Lamas consider me! Just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past and the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who dwell on the great earth generated the mind of perfect enlightenment, so too, I, named so-and-so, from this day forward until I reach the essence of enlightenment, generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. May I liberate those sentient beings who have not been liberated. May I free those who have not been freed. May I give breath to those who have not breathed. May I lead those who have not passed into complete nirvana to pass into nirvana. Recite this three times to take the vow. Having taken it in this way, always three times during the day and night, diligently generate the two Bodhicitta minds. By doing so, one awakens the dormant Bodhicitta, restores what has been lost, and does not forget it. To show the certainty of how to obtain it, at the peak of aspiration, all dharmas arise dependently. The first verse is aspiration, the second is entry. The third verse obtains both firmly, which is like the intention of the ocean cloud, unsurpassed. That is, the first verse is aspiration, the second is entry, and the third obtains both in a way that the dharma is firm, hence like the ocean cloud. Among them, the first, second, and third verses, with aspiration, entry, and both being extremely firm, the supreme state is obtained, as it is taught. If, at the time of the first verse, one thinks that promising to enter into action by reciting the promise of entry is not in accordance with aspiration, then, since the aspiration mind also pervades entry, by taking the vows of entry, aspiration also increases along the way. Since entry does not pervade aspiration, the Lamp for the Path says: Only those who have entered the mind of action and taken vows will increase the true aspiration. And so on. Especially the occasions of taking vows and so on are the times when one strives for the meaning of conventional Bodhicitta, so at the conventional time, all dharmas depend on conditions, so here, when aspiration and entry are taken simultaneously, the two are not different entities, but are born as the nature of one wisdom, one thing, one time, and one action. As the Bodhisattva Bhumi says: Aspiration

These two, namely aspiration and engagement, are identical in essence, and the practice for the benefit of others is the same. It should be understood that they are of an undifferentiated nature. This is because it is said so. Then, why should they be practiced according to different rituals? This is aimed at those who wish to generate Bodhicitta but are unable to take vows. In general, regarding the recognition of aspiration and engagement Bodhicitta, the Theravada tooth sect and others regard the worldly path as aspiration, and from the perspective of realizing the truth, it is engagement. Some believe that those who possess the accumulation of merit are engagement, and those who do not possess it are aspiration. In the difficult commentary of Kṛṣṇapa, it is said: Some say that the Bodhicitta that possesses the accumulation of merit is the engagement Bodhicitta. All Bodhicittas that do not possess the accumulation of merit are aspiration Bodhicitta. These statements are not correct. Here, it refers to a person who has tamed their mind and aspires to Buddhahood. Abiding in the training, it is subsequently proclaimed in order not to destroy their training. Practicing the six perfections is itself the increase of Bodhicitta, and it is the engagement Bodhicitta, as explained in the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra. Therefore, they consider the essence of aspiration and engagement Bodhicitta to be the same. When the ultimate Bodhicitta is generated in the mindstream through the power of meditating on the characteristics, it is unreasonable to think that it depends on rituals and other conditions, since all phenomena are seen as selfless. As it is said in the Laṅkāvatāra Sutra: Others see all phenomena as dependent on conditions, and therefore turn to the thought of extinction. Since they do not see the selflessness of phenomena, those great wise ones have no liberation. Having thus obtained Bodhicitta, in order to increase it further in the future, one should first praise one's own mind: In the past, let alone benefiting others, I have never even dreamed of benefiting myself. This excellent quality of precious Bodhicitta has made my life priceless. Regarding this, even if I and others were to seek the ultimate end of birth, we would not be able to exhaust it. But this kind of special Bodhicitta that has arisen today, even the worldly guardian deities, and the sages born of power, etc.,
