is knowledge. The teachings of outsiders are different from this. The Hero's Foot says: Why is your teaching, that happiness is attained by happiness? Therefore, the lion of speech, this goes to your doctrine. Etc., praised extensively in two collections of praise. Therefore, after generating great faith in remembering kindness, the body of the Tathagata, stupas, and scriptures, etc., whether present or not, offering solely for these, placing mindfulness nearby, serving with reverence, and even if there is not a single object of contemplation, if one knows the nature of all dharmas as inseparable, then it becomes an offering to all. Moreover, due to the dominion of laziness, idleness, and drowsiness, not letting others do it, but doing it oneself by wiping it personally, this is taking the essence on the body that has function, and the merit is vast. Also, seeing that the accumulation of merit of sentient beings is meager and suffering, and their ability is weak, thinking that if these people make offerings, they themselves will touch the fruit of happiness, and then letting others do it. By the pull of compassion and bodhicitta, one obtains greater merit than before. In particular, with that thought, one also urges others, and both oneself and others do it together, then one obtains even greater merit than that. As it says in the Essence of the Middle Way: Who, like water, tree, and bubble, these bodies without essence, diligently work for the sake of others, do not make Sumeru the essence. If one has compassion, in every single moment, the body and speech, which are the basis of old age, death, and disease, become the basis of happiness for others. Those who possess the lamp of the true Dharma, abandoning the eight non-freedoms, this leisure, with the conduct of a great person, should act with the reason of having fruit. Therefore, through the doors of body and speech, offering with respect, prostration and folded palms, appearing and standing up, circumambulating, bowing with the head, speaking respectfully, proclaiming hymns of praise, and endless giving of land and dwellings and gardens, etc., jewels and musical instruments, armlets and necklaces.

Ornaments such as Semoto, Zildir, and Brahma threads; bells and rattles; half-nets and Ladi; scattering Karshapanis; offering mandalas, and so on; and offerings of gains such as clothes, bedding, cushions, daily necessities, medicines for illnesses, horses and elephants, and so on; incense; cleaning the body; repairing dwellings; intimacy; fragrant anointing; golden adornments; compounded and natural incense; garlands of flowers; various musical instruments; lamps, and so on. Similarly, offerings that are not possessed, as mentioned in the Sutra Pitaka Cloud and the Three Samayas, and so on; also offering with flowers, edible plants, lands, rivers, and treasures of precious stones, and so on. And those are not done to belittle others, or to please kings who have faith in the Buddha, hoping to gain profit, respect, and fame, without mixing with afflicted thoughts, not things that are improperly seized from others, or not achieved by great sinful deeds. In particular, the four immeasurable offerings that please the Buddhas, as well as the three vows, the Three Jewels, the six perfections, the recollection of the meaning of profound emptiness, the three wisdoms, and the four means of gathering, and so on, completely gathering virtuous dharmas, this is called the immeasurable accomplishment offering, which is the great and complete offering. When offering in this way, one should generate six thoughts from which immeasurable fruits arise, as stated in the Bodhisattva-bhumi: thinking that the Three Jewels are the unsurpassed field of merit for qualities, that they are as rare as the Udumbara flower, thinking that they are the most supreme of all sentient beings, thinking that their benefit and help are unparalleled, thinking that they appear only once in the three thousand great thousand worlds, being unique, and offering with the thought that they are the basis of all worldly and transworldly perfections. As it is said in the sutra: "Cultivate the field of merit on the field of faith!" As it is said, it is the unsurpassed field of all happiness in this life and the next.
