Po'o. The last is the antidote to prolonging the continuum. The basis for the path is also the self-nature that precedes the ground. That ground, for the objects to be abandoned of the ground, the gross obstacles are abandoned, which is called the path of application. When that ground first arises, the seed of that defilement portion is actually abandoned, which is the path of no interruption. From the second moment of that ground, those that have become the actual basis are the path of liberation. At the end of the ground, having obtained special qualities and progressing to the higher ground is the path of distinction. The distinction of abandonment is to abandon all that is to be abandoned by seeing, to abandon the gross objects of the portion to be abandoned by meditation, and to enter into the abandonment of the subtle. Thus, from abandonment, the distinctions of the ten grounds go higher and higher. The distinction of holding the body is in terms of having the ability to hold those births. Not all the kings of those castes abide on those grounds of the bodhisattvas, because some ordinary beings have accumulated great merit, and in some cases, the Tathagata appears in various forms to benefit sentient beings. Moreover, from the first ground onwards, one has obtained power over life. Although there is no self-characteristic birth and death, if it transforms for the benefit of others, then it is shown as such, as it is said in the Uttaratantra: The noble ones have completely abandoned death, sickness, and old age, born from the power of karma and afflictions. Because that does not exist there, this also does not exist. Because they have seen the truth as it is, they have transcended births and so on. However, those who possess compassion show birth, death, sickness, and old age. Thus it is. The fifth path of no more learning is the meaning of having reached the ultimate of learning and no longer needing to learn. The common basis of the body, according to the earlier Hearers, is that they wish to attain enlightenment from the royal caste or the Brahmin caste of Jambudvipa. And they also consider the first moment of the last existence to be an ordinary being, as it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: Not a noble one, but parents, the sick, and the speakers of Dharma, the bodhisattva of the last existence. Although it is said so, it is not literal. In the sutras it is said: All the perfect Buddhas in the Akanishta, the palace of delight, having completely abandoned all sins, attain enlightenment there, and manifest here through emanations. As it is said, according to the Mahayana system, what is the basis for attaining enlightenment in Akanishta? Entering
