And also sincerely say, may all beings who do these things attain the bliss of enlightenment, and may they manifestly and completely awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Thus, the people of the southern continent of Jambudvipa, because they are beings with both, it is impossible not to rely on coarse food, therefore those who have entered the path of the teachings, even if they only possess these three aspects of the activity of pure food, the preliminary, the actual, and the subsequent, can make leisure meaningful. Living by stealing with impure strategies, seeking gain with what is gained, using sweet words, pretending, the five types of wrong livelihood that measure by what is obtained, will cause the asceticism of the upright to be defiled. Therefore, a good dwelling and a good life, arouse diligence with good friends and actions. Regarding this, in general, wrong livelihood is stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: Do not learn the knowledge of crafts, do not engage in buying and selling, do not rely on kings and princes, as well as ministers and merchants, for the sake of food. Do not eat the food of the dead and newborn's house, do not associate with happy and friendly people, monks and nuns mixing together, yogis should not do this. As it is said, for the sake of survival, acting with a mind connected to afflictions, and recognizing survival through this, this is called wrong livelihood. Similarly, making a living by buying and selling for the sake of gain, making a living by teaching the Dharma, making a living by healing, making a living by knowing divination and so on, by the practice of mantras, looking at signs, astrology, diviners, pretending, and any livelihood of unwholesome deeds, craftsmen, gluing, flowers, fruits, roots, leaves, toothpicks, etc., making a living by giving causes, this is called wrong livelihood, which is extensively explained in the Explanation of Wrong Livelihood, but here specifically points out five wrong livelihoods: begging with flattery in the hope of giving, speaking badly of others, or hiding food and clothing inside, pretending to be poor so that others know, all that is obtained is an impure livelihood, this is called stealing by method. Seeking gain with what is gained is, first giving the other person a little bit of food, and then using this to control the other person not to leave.

That is gathering many gains from outside. Seeking gains through flattery is to say in front of others how one has practiced asceticism in listening, thinking, and meditating, and the history of fleeing from merit and noise, and saying that one has abandoned wealth or possessions, or that one has saved the lives of fish and wild animals and other sentient beings, or deceiving others with fabricated excuses of making offerings and great virtuous deeds, thereby obtaining wealth. Seeking gains through hypocrisy is to pretend to be peaceful in conduct, gentle in speech, appropriate in expression, diligent, lax, and like an upright person in front of others, even though one has not restrained one's own nature, is not tamed, is lazy, eats a lot, has fallen from abandonment, and is not impartial. Or pretending to be indifferent to the eight worldly concerns, behaving vulgarly, speaking seemingly frankly, being inconsistent on the inside and outside, concealing evil intentions in one's heart, deceiving others, causing them to be confused, and then gathering gains. Measuring by gain is when a certain patron gives me this much wealth or goods, and the reason for giving it to me is because he sees that I have discipline, am learned, am accustomed to yoga, am of noble caste, lineage, and origin, have a particularly good reincarnation residence, and have the merits of a abbot. To this, I also accepted because I had closeness and love in my heart for him. Saying it directly like this, or writing it in words, or forcibly demanding it even though they are not giving it, or complaining that I have few offerings in remote places, or saying that I have recited and recited this much, and calculating the gain with this, and the Blessed One said: The giver gives well, the receiver receives well. Not paying attention to these at all, not only not rejoicing in what others give, but also being petty about the slightest gain, arguing, burning one's own and others' hearts, accepting like this is measuring by gain. These are all wrong livelihoods, like poison, full of defilement, and a huge cause of falling into the lower realms, so it is better to starve to death than to eat these things shamefully. Such sayings are also common in worldly stories, so they should be completely abandoned, and from the words of the good path, one should rely on it to eliminate suffering.
