After transformation, although it cannot be determined whether or not one is a saint, how could there be a violation of the teachings? If that vow is broken, one will suffer greatly in the Vajra Hell. Thus it is said. In the Abhidharmakośa, it is said: Even if not a saint, offerings to parents, the sick, preachers, and bodhisattvas in their last existence are immeasurable. Thus it is said. As stated in the Jataka tales, King Brahmadatta, for the sake of a verse that turned away from evil spoken by a yaksha in the form of a cruel being, vowed to give his body as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, and without hesitation, gave away his son and wife. Therefore, without examining from the perspective of faults, think of the kindness of the Dharma, whether it be discipline, vast learning, great compassion, faith, or generosity, etc. Even if one possesses only one of these qualities, one should train the mind solely on contemplating the aspect of virtue. As stated in the Vajrapāṇi Abhiṣeka Tantra: Take the virtues of the teacher, never take the faults. Taking the virtues, one will attain siddhi; taking the faults, one will not attain siddhi. It is said like this: Like this, even if the guru possesses virtues, if one examines even slightly from the perspective of his faults, it will become a great obstacle to one's own attainment of siddhi. The teacher Buddha Jñānapāda requested instructions from Mañjuśrīmitra, and later, when he returned to his own country and taught the Dharma to many followers, the teacher came in the guise of a yogi. Because he was ashamed to prostrate, he pretended not to see him. Later, after the followers had left, he went to prostrate. The teacher said: Why didn't you prostrate just now? He lied, saying he didn't see him. As a result, both eyes fell to the ground. Later, he begged for forgiveness and obtained the eyes of wisdom. Similarly, even a slight examination of the guru's faults, or harboring doubts, will obscure both supreme and common siddhis. There are very many reasons for this. Even for those with many faults, one should cut off the habit of examining from the perspective of faults and only examine the aspect of virtue. If one is not captivated by him, then this holy person has also practiced the conduct of a holy person from previous lives to previous lives and possesses virtues, so now he is connected with us and others as a spiritual friend.

It should be examined as the teacher also perfected the six perfections by relying on Devadatta in his previous life. In the White Lotus Sutra of the Sacred Dharma, it says: The Bhagavan, having become a king, made a vow to attain complete enlightenment, and his mind did not turn back. In order to perfect the six perfections, he gave up his kingdom, possessions, head, and limbs. When he began to seek the Dharma, he rang a bell and vowed: Whoever teaches me the Dharma, I will be his servant. Devadatta transformed into a hermit and taught the White Lotus Sutra of the Sacred Dharma. (The king) felt joy and rejoiced in this, from taking the hermit's tree roots, taking water, to picking fruits, etc., even becoming a gatekeeper. At night, he even held the foot of the bed. Having done this, he spent a whole year without physical or mental fatigue. The Bhagavan said: Bhikshu Devadatta is also my spiritual friend. By relying on Devadatta, I have perfected the six perfections. From then on, he explained in detail how he perfected all the dharmas of enlightenment by relying on Devadatta. (The Buddha said) Bhikshus, you should believe and understand. Furthermore, in the world called Heavenly Ladder, he was prophesied to become a Buddha as the Tathagata named Heavenly King. Therefore, from the beginning, one has the autonomy to examine, and from a relationship of more than one verse, there is no place to investigate its faults. In the Jewel Cloud Sutra, it says: By relying on the lama, one understands that virtue increases and non-virtue decreases. Therefore, one should generate the thought of a teacher towards the khenpo, whether he is learned or unlearned, knowledgeable or ignorant, disciplined or immoral. Just as one generates joy and faith towards the teacher, one should also generate faith and joy towards the khenpo. One should respect and serve the acharyas. By relying on them, the unfulfilled accumulations of enlightenment will be fulfilled, and the undestroyed afflictions will be destroyed. Thinking this, one obtains joy and delight, and one should act in accordance with virtuous dharmas and not act in accordance with non-virtuous dharmas. The latter meaning of this passage has already been explained. Furthermore, in the Sutra Requested by the Fierce One, it says: Householder, if Bodhi
