It makes emptiness ripen. Thus it is said. In the Noble Jewel Cloud Sutra, it says: By relying on the lama, virtuous dharma increases and sins decrease. Thinking that the khenpo, whether he has heard much or little, whether he knows or does not know, whether he keeps the precepts or does not keep them, one should generate the perception of the teacher as the Buddha. Just as one rejoices and has faith in the Buddha, so should one treat the khenpo. Also, from the Mother Tantra, it says that any spiritual friend who teaches that all dharmas are emptiness and without characteristics should be served with reverence and respect. In particular, those who are liberated from their own nature through the path of mantra and engage in the conduct of wisdom yoga and union, their nature is inconceivable. For example, in the sacred land of India, the great Brahmin Rahula, even in the eyes of the Brahmins, seemed to have fallen from his own lineage, abandoning the conduct of the elders, and engaging in the conduct with a bamboo weaver woman, and was heavily taxed by the king and many others. Shavaripa engaged in hunting with women. Darikapa worked as a servant for a prostitute. Jyadalipa killed various birds in the cities. The low-caste, limbless Vajravarahi shepherdess engaged in sexual intercourse, angrily whipping. Bina showed attachment to the lute. The seductive Vajra liquor seller showed herself as a lustful person. Acharya Lavapa was seen as speaking foolish dharma. Indrabhuti Barpa was seen as a lustful person. Jalandharipa spent his time with the behavior of a child. Tilipa roasted live fish, sometimes pounded sesame seeds, and sometimes pretended to be mad. Kukuraja acted as the leader of a pack of dogs. The accomplished Tantipa worked as a weaver. Gayapati worked as a singer in the city. He was named because he only killed the bird Gundiri and lived on it. Black Vajra saw that the Bhagavan Mother Fisherwoman Dor's shoulders were worn out. Shri Singha saw that Manjushri's spiritual friend was a householder with a wife and a farmer, and so on, there is no end to the stories. In Tibet, it was also heard that there was a king who was an incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, and two novice monks from Li (Khotan, Xinjiang) came to see him, the king

Therefore, (some people) see the Lama imposing punishments such as the death penalty on Tibetans, considering it a sinful act and fleeing, and there are countless such things. All of these are because the mind has not been liberated from the three doors of liberation, and one has not gained control over the proximate cause of the appearance arising as a pure and vast realm, causing illusions to arise in one's own continuum. Why? Because the secrets of body, speech, and mind are extremely hidden, and one's own obscurations prevent one from seeing them. The manifestation of all qualities requires the purification of karma, or it must be in accordance with oneself and one's conduct. In particular, the karmic appearances of sentient beings are immeasurable. For example, the monk "Good Star," who was proficient in the twelve categories of scripture and had attained the samadhi of the first dhyana, was also overwhelmed by the power of non-virtuous karma. He viewed all the actions of our teacher—who cherishes all sentient beings as if they were his only child, is skilled in taming those to be tamed, possesses wisdom and feet, and is unblemished by any afflictions or faults—as nothing but deceit and trickery. Therefore, all remaining merit was exhausted, and the ground actually split open, and he fell into the city of hell-beings. Therefore, one should think carefully and not make erroneous judgments about the actions of the Lama. If, because the nature of sentient beings is afflicted, a little distrust arises, one should also blame oneself: this fault is not in him, but a person with a windy constitution will see all those around him as harmful. When the wind subsides, one will naturally feel ashamed of one's own thoughts. Just as a person who has eaten Datura sees hairs falling from his eyes, one's own bad thoughts are the cause of the appearance of others' faults. Correct one's thinking in this way, and confess within a very short time. If one sees distrust of the Lama's actions in a dream, one must confess immediately upon waking up. The Wheel of Complete Enjoyment says: If in a dream, one sees the Lama's faults, confess immediately upon waking up. If one does not confess, this will also increase the cause of uninterrupted hell. If the Lama appears angry, know that this is because the Lama has seen my faults and is taming me with scolding, and it is time to confess and summarize. A wise practitioner will not be controlled by demons. Doing this is good.

A virtuous friend contradicts the ways of the world, for they are upright in heart, without deceit or pretense, and what they think in their minds they express openly, without concealing it with various magical displays. Therefore, I will surely reflect on whether I have committed bad deeds or sinful actions, or done something unreasonable, and engage in intense confession. Although some things may seem inherently difficult to prevent, generally, in order to examine the capacity of students, sometimes even verbal misdeeds are permitted. In order to accomplish great benefit for others, the three actions of the body may also be manifested. Therefore, do not engage in judgmental thoughts based on one's own assumptions, for since one does not possess clairvoyance, one does not know their true intentions, so be cautious. Furthermore, towards those who are stingy and ungenerous, demanding possessions as a part of completing the accumulation of merit; towards those who are impatient and of bad character, using unpleasant words to loosen their discipline; and towards those who lack resources and favorable conditions, showing indifference, and so on. Therefore, noble beings, those of great wisdom and profound intellect, cannot be fathomed by others. Even if their actions of body and speech appear unrelated, since they are without delusion in their hearts, they should be regarded as a great play of taming beings, and not even a slight amount of distrust should be entertained. In particular, if they possess the qualities as described in the Dharma, even if there are some flaws that make them appear difficult to approach in terms of worldly lineage, power, personality, and the harshness or gentleness of their behavior, one should think: all worldly terms are inherently false, like illusions, inconsistent inside and out, and merely pretense and deception, so why can't I endure them? As it says in the General Sutra: This holy one is a tamer, this one is my protector, all worldly terms are certainly all illusions. These mere deceptions do not hinder the holy one in any way. In this moment of seeing, since it is so, it can only be so. For that moment, it is only to be endured. If others make distinctions, even if they appear to be angry due to pretense.
