The way to enter is: Recognizing that the Lama and the sacred Dharma are mutually dependent, and possessing renunciation; delighting in offerings and articles of worship; venerating the Three Jewels; being generous in giving; those who genuinely engage in listening, contemplation, and meditation with a motivation of faith, benefit both themselves and others in the short and long term. The way to enter with desire is: Although temporarily relying on the Lama and the Dharma, due to the evil motivations of happiness, fame, and attachment/aversion in this life, not trusting in the contemplation and meditation that will surely liberate from samsara, but instead seeking wealth by relying on power or prophecy; engaging in actions devoid of altruistic intention; cultivating various activities or poisonous listening and thinking motivated by arrogance and jealousy; not taking pleasure in venerating the Three Jewels and the generation and completion stages, but rather using offerings and articles of worship as mere decorations, are called those who deceive both themselves and others with desire. The way to enter with non-determination is: Those foolish, biased individuals who do not rely on either of the above two ways, lacking both faith in the Dharma and desire, like a monkey's meditation and a parrot's recitation of mantras, imitate what others do and enter by chance; never taking any vows or precepts, like a homeless dog wandering the streets. Therefore, the first way is incomparable and should be followed; the latter two ways should be transformed into the correct path through various methods and interdependent connections, and through a special connection of aspirational prayers, they should be cherished as objects to be tamed in the future. Having explained the discordant aspects of disciples, next, as the beginning of examining a worthy vessel, the special qualities are explained: The armor is vast and the wisdom is extremely firm, not regarding body and life, one respectfully serves, whatever is said is obeyed without defiance, not cherishing oneself, such a person is liberated by devotion alone. Like this, in the profound Sutras and Tantras, although many qualities of the Lama and disciples, and the crucial points of practice, have been taught, if summarized into one key point, it is this evident reason: The disciple must have a vast armor of faith towards a Lama who is realized and has transcended samsara, and possesses great compassion.

Like Nagarjuna's Bodhi. Difficult to be transformed by conditions, therefore steadfast in mind, serving without regard for body and life, like glorious wisdom. Abandoning one's own interests, obeying all that is said, praying earnestly with a devout heart, and merging one's mind into one, there is nothing that cannot be liberated. Why? Because receiving blessings and attainments does not lie in meditation, but in completely pure devotion. It does not lie in oral instructions, but in faith. For example, when the master Aryadeva spat out nasal mucus, Nagarjuna's Bodhi took it with a ceramic bowl and put it in his mouth, and immediately saw the truth of the first ground. Glorious Wisdom killed two prison guards and brought the master Nyak out of the prison pit, and immediately attained accomplishment. Because I saw the scriptures of the Second Buddha, I realized that I had never encountered such a profound and vast path before, and because I developed unimaginable devotion, the wisdom body personally manifested and took me in. Again, simply because of the great devotion that arose to the point of being able to give up life, the mind was forcibly liberated from defilements. Until now, the listener is led to a hundred pyres and prophesied, because those with meditation cannot surpass worldly meditation. Although those with wisdom first see the meaning of no self-nature, because devotion fades, they lose connection with profound realization. The arising of reality appears to depend entirely on the scale of devotion. As it is said in the General Sutra: "Lord of Lanka, therefore, mantra is merely the manifestation of self-nature, and noble beings merely reveal it through blessings." And again: "Good friends, the complete liberation of the continuum depends on the noble ones, what is that? For example, the cause of the ripening of the supreme essence, the place where the great wise ones ask questions, the guide for those who have lost their way, the jewel of deliverance that dispels darkness." Also, as it is said in the sutra: "Son of lineage, the conduct of a Bodhisattva depends on a virtuous friend. The complete perfection of all qualities is generated by a virtuous friend. All the qualities of the Buddha are obtained by serving a virtuous friend."
