They suffer greatly from longing. The lifespan is half of an intermediate kalpa. Thus, these two are: those with the illusion of houses, Chandra Gomi purely describes other differences of suffering. Some fall into large copper pots cooked with sesame oil. Others fall on the ground of burning sand, scattering sparks, Unable to lift their feet. Thus it is said. The distinction of extreme heat, the dense smoke of hellfire obscures the sky. The many arms of the flames spread in all directions, Covering the entire circle of directions. Adorned with ornaments of white bone fragments, causing goosebumps. Like an elephant wearing clothes, sinful means, alas, oh dear, they cry. Thus, the categories of hell also naturally appear, with numerous names. Since the determination of the place is not clear, and the words are profound, even the two difficult commentaries cannot clearly explain it, so in other treatises, scriptures are appropriately cited as support. Here, it seems particularly important to elaborate on the views of the teacher and wise one in the two commentaries, and therefore to distinguish them. The Avici hell is in all four directions, Up and down, all around, it is covered with burning flames. There, sentient beings are like dry branches being lit and blown by the wind. Clinging between flesh, tendons, bones, and feet, like a candle clinging to a wick, or like red-hot iron and coal fire indistinguishable, these are sentient beings. It is impossible to distinguish these as fire, only cries of agony emerge from a mass of fire, this is the ultimate of suffering. As it is said in the "Admonition to Students": The harm of outer and inner are shown as two, the outer harm is: In some places, sparks fly greatly, chaotic and noisy, with loud sounds. When grease drips, a bad sound is called out, crackling and burning. Thus it is said. The inner harm is: the sound of ashes crackling in the bones of the chest. Falling into the interior that cannot be moved by the fire of the kalpa. Thus it is briefly explained. In the meaning of detailed explanation, it is also divided into two types of harm, inner and outer, The first is: flames burn as if dry veins and the heart are ignited from the lungs. Flames burn from the throat and mouth, continuously emerging with smoke. From the hungry intestines to the inside of the cecum

Making everyone afraid with a rough voice, they only make some loud, incomprehensible cries. Like this. The external harms are: those who want to be liberated from great suffering, again and again, seeing the cracks of the open door, they peer as if looking at something far away. When the doors of karma are tightly closed, then hunger, thirst, confusion, and other sufferings will also arise. This is the harm of the dwelling. Similarly, in order to show the harms of great arrows, sticks, and burning liquids, after various burning giant arrows fall like rain, the hell guards wield sticks, shedding tears, and pour down dense chains of molten iron and burning sparks. Smoke rises upwards from the mouth, nose, ears, and other places. The eyes and brain marrow are all burned, even bursting open. In the flames of the brain, the burning flames are dark black. That fire, like anger, spreads on that person's body, like dry firewood being lit. Like this. In order to summarize these meanings, that person drifts like a river in a steep valley. The fire of hell is exhausted there, and the heat is also exhausted there. All of karma becomes extremely repulsive, appears, and is completely transformed. Beings act involuntarily due to their own karma. Even if they are liberated from a hundred places of sin—hells, it is extremely difficult to obtain a human body in the endless worlds. Thus it is said, the suffering of the sentient beings in Avici Hell is scorching in nature, diverse in form, and without gaps or intervals, therefore it is called Avici or Uninterrupted Hell. Regarding their body size, the Nirvana Sutra says: those who have committed the eight uninterrupted sins have bodies of eighty thousand yojanas, but they do not obstruct each other. The Mahayana sutras say that the tongue of a slanderer is one hundred thousand yojanas, etc., the feeling is very intense. Regarding the length of life, the Mindfulness Sutra says it is one intermediate kalpa, and the Karma Differentiation Sutra says: at the gate of Avici Hell, there is an iron mountain of one hundred and sixty thousand yojanas high, when this mountain is exhausted by the hell beings themselves, their lives will end, which is immeasurable. Thus it is said. Even if one is liberated from there, it is extremely difficult to obtain a human body.
