Therefore, there is no time for Asuras to feel happy. Some may have the wisdom to discern between good and non-good, but due to the obscurations of that class of beings, they cannot attain the path of hearers and self-realizers. Therefore, the venerable Nagarjuna said: Even the Asuras, whose nature is that of gods, suffer greatly because of their hatred of the glory of the gods. Although they have wisdom, they do not see the truth because of the obscurations of beings. Thus it is said. Nevertheless, the Mahayana sutras are inconceivable. When this Dharma discourse was taught, gods, nagas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, and countless others obtained the stainless and pure Dharma eye. As it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra. Regarding the cause and effect of being born there, it is said in the chapter on Asuras: Always engaging in deception and falsehood, not doing evil deeds, delighting in fighting and being generous, one will be reborn as a powerful Asura. Thus it is said. Now, to explain the suffering of humans: the suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the suffering of conditioning, these are the three great fundamental sufferings. Birth, old age, sickness, death, encountering enemies, separation from loved ones, not getting what one wants, and the five aggregates of clinging holding the nature of suffering, constantly torment beings in eight ways. To explain the suffering of suffering, it is said: Life is like a floating bubble, accompanied by non-virtue, displeasure, and conflict, etc. The former suffering brings about the latter suffering, like a leper with sores on top of sores. Thus, wise beings, compared to the previous good ages, and also compared to other unpleasant human beings, the life span of this present time in Jambudvipa is as impermanent as a bubble, and not only that, but also cannot escape the suffering of innate sorrow. In addition, there are many sufferings piled up, such as sudden illnesses, demons, enemies, and natural disasters. Nevertheless, most people do not suffer because they have not thought deeply, so even if they do not see the state of the next life, they do not feel pain, but while suffering from illness, they are devoured by wild animals.

Like something that is certain, or like the stinging pain of pustules piled on top of leprosy. The suffering of change is: In the garden of perfect noble qualities, with the taste of desire, the torment of poison, eating and completely decaying, the unbearable body, obtained like an illusion, this is the suffering of change. Whichever man, in a garden or palace, etc., feels comfortable with play and song, like a lotus blossoming, or falls into a mixture of deadly poisonous food, the body's radiance disappears, the eyes droop, rolling around in bed like a ghost, with unbearable suffering causing the body to emaciate, briefly obtaining suffering, or a body that enjoys art, easily destroyed by art itself. The suffering of conditioning is all-pervasive: the touch of the feet unbearable, the weary mind even climbing an elephant's back, its thoughts become wild with craving, falling into a cliff, this symbolizes the suffering of conditioning. For this meaning, one can cite stories and examples from previous lives: In the capital of the king named Light, King Bright, excitedly climbing onto the back of an elephant, said to the elephant trainer: Hey, be careful! This best of elephants, we obtained with the merit of being unable to bear the touch of our feet on the ground, so you must tame it well. The trainer also promised: According to your command. So, he continued to tame the elephant until it could unhesitatingly accept the command to take a burning iron hammer with its nose. After that, the king and his subjects rode on the elephant's back, excitedly going to nearby villages for recreation, because all the causes of suffering are hidden, so it is the suffering of conditioning. Those elephants, although the Supreme Buddha failed to subdue their minds with vows to subdue afflictions, the trainer only subdued their bodies with iron hooks, therefore, craving the scent of a female elephant, their minds became extremely wild, to the point that the entire earth seemed to spin like a chariot wheel, creating illusion, causing King Bright to nearly lose his life and suffer, this is the suffering of conditioning.
