It transforms into dwelling in water mixed with mud, blood, and impurities. Those with internal obscurations have mouths as small as the eye of a needle, yet fear many yojanas of belly. The wretched hungry ones, even if they drink the water of the great ocean, before their throats become wide, the heat of their mouths will dry up even a drop of water. This means that its mouth is only as small as the eye of a needle. Measuring the extent of its belly is fearful even for many yojanas. Why? Because in the Sutra of the Essence of the Sun, it is said that the body of a large preta is a thousand yojanas, and the smallest is a cubit high. Because it is exhausted by food and drink, even if it drinks the water of the great ocean, before it can enter its throat, which is as thin as a horse's tail, the heat of its mouth dries up the drop of water on the spot, and there is no place for it to go inside. This very pure teacher who speaks in this way is also praised by the ornament of Jambudvipa, the teacher Dharmakirti, so the meaning that is not explained in detail by the Indian and Tibetan commentaries is clearly stated in this word-by-word commentary. Furthermore, the pretas who wander in the sky are all kinds of beings such as rotting corpses, zombies, madmen, forgetful ones, yakshas, flesh-eaters, shadow oppressors, desiccators, night-goers, sorcerers, rakshasas, tsen, and kings. From the Minor Mindfulness Sutra: "Whoever harms children, and entices them with desire, will be born with a rotting body that eats their excrement. Whoever destroys and gives villages, gives and harms, will be born as an ugly pot-bellied demon, worthy of offerings. Always delighting in scents and garlands, giving and being less wrathful, will become the cause of the gods' delight, will be born as a gandharva. Whoever is very gossipy, angry, and gives for need, will become a cruel flesh-eater, born with an ugly face. Always very hateful and reckless, always delighting in giving, will be born as a bhuta after death. For those who are cruel, angry, and giving, and who delight in delicious alcohol, after death they will be born as cruel yakshas, who delight in alcohol. Whoever to parents and teachers,

They ride on the mounts they desire. They live in immeasurable palaces and are born as yakshas who possess happiness. Due to the faults of craving and stinginess, they will be reborn as pretas after death. As it is said. However, although Kumbhandas and Gandharvas are distinct categories within the first two classes of desire gods, they should be regarded as being included in the category of demons here. These beings possess the magical power of karma, and although some possess enjoyment due to slight past virtues, they are unstable, experience reversed seasons, unpleasant places, harm, fear, hunger, thirst, and are diligent in stealing life and radiance, and solely accomplish harm to others, thus accumulating future suffering. Although they travel by magical power, they appear to guard dangerous paths. Wherever they go with affection, they transfer the crucial point of their own impending death, so they inflict harm by means of lineage mantras and the cessation of offerings. They themselves are constantly tormented by the feeling of the pain of impending death, so they have the evil intention of transferring that pain to other patients. They experience suffering similar to that of their own body's openings, like sesame seeds, or like sparks, which is fleeting. They exist in various forms, such as dogs and birds, and the happiness and enjoyment of others appear as suffering to them. They also commonly experience the appearance of the four inversions mentioned earlier, so it is said that they go to the world of Yama and suffer. Now, to show the suffering of animals, the "Letter to a Friend" says: In the place of birth of animals, there is also killing and, bondage and beating, etc., various sufferings, for those who have become peaceful and abandoned virtue, eating each other, which is extremely unbearable. Thus, it is divided into general and specific sufferings. The first, although thirty-four distinctions are taught in the "Mindfulness Sutra," if one combines the scattered and the settled, even among the scattered, if one considers the actions done by humans and non-humans, then generally, it is just the act of killing, but the magnitude of suffering from the methods of killing is inconceivable, such as hunters cornering wild animals to the end, and cannibalistic tribes skinning people alive, burning them with fire, and for the sake of mercury and other substances and examination
