Although guarding oneself with thirteen methods and making others ignorant is known as a special skill commonly used in the world, it is like swallowing poisonous food, causing great harm to oneself, and should be regarded as an enemy. As stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "Stinginess, deceit, attachment, and laziness, manifest pride, desire, and hatred, lineage, appearance, learning, youth, and arrogance due to great power, regard them as enemies." Similarly, to show that the ripening of good and evil is even more increasing than external cause and effect, (it is said in the scriptures): In samsara, the two results of white and black actions, even from a small seed, the form of the fruit swells greatly, which only the human king I (referring to the king) can do. Just as seven beans can produce four Chakravartins. Any seed, a tree the size of a mustard seed, the fruit of the Ashvattha tree in the season of maturity, each branch can grow to a yojana, the image of good and evil cannot be compared. In this way, the ripening of the two, good and evil, for external cause and effect, the greatest increase is the example of the Ashvattha tree, which cannot even be compared to a fraction of it. Even a small cause can produce boundless results, which is the increase of the two, internal cause and effect, good and evil. The king I can do it because in a previous life, he scattered a handful of beans to the Buddha Vipashyin (梵文:Vipaśyin,Vipaśyī,观世佛), four of which fell into the bowl, and two fell on his chest, thus obtaining the result of a golden Chakravartin who ruled the four continents. In sequence, he became the Four Great Kings, and in the Thirty-Three Heavens, he became Indra, and possessed the power to sit on half a seat. Shariputra (梵文:Śāriputra,Śāriputra,舍利子) gave a piece of cloth and thread to a Pratyekabuddha, thus obtaining great wisdom, as well as sharp and profound qualities, becoming the foremost wise one among the Shravakas. The cowherd boy repaired the elephant-shaped pattern on the base of the stupa with milk, thus enjoying the wealth of elephants in all lifetimes. The venerable Katyayana (梵文:Kātyāyana,Kātyāyana,迦旃延) received a bowl of water offered by an old woman, thus being reborn as a deva. Furthermore, even the root of virtue generated by scattering ashes to the Tathagata with a faithful heart can also experience happiness for countless kalpas.

I, even throwing a flower into the sky towards the Buddha, or making a respectful prostration to a stupa, as it is said in the scriptures, can lead to becoming a Chakravartin king in a future that is beyond imagination. As it is said in the scriptures: Do not despise small virtues, thinking they are useless. Even drops of water, when accumulated, gradually fill a large container. Similarly, there are examples of the increase of non-virtuous deeds. In the teachings of Buddha Kashyapa, a monk, because of maliciously saying some unclean words to his fellow monks, was born as a worm in a pile of excrement. Similarly, there are the stories of Golden God (གསེར་ལྷ་), Golden Staff (གསེར་དབྱིག་), and Cowherd (གླང་པོ་སྐྱོང་) from the Wise and Foolish Sutra, and from the Vinaya-vastu, the story of Protector Joyful (སྐྱོང་བྱེད་དགའ་བོ་) and the frog, swan, fish, five hundred turtles, five hundred pretas, farmer, and five hundred cows that were beaten by his staff. As it is said: Do not despise small sins, thinking they are harmless. A small spark can burn a pile of grass as big as a mountain. In general, there is a difference in the magnitude of cause and effect between the Greater and Lesser Vehicles. Although the cause and effect of the Lesser Vehicle are small, once a Bhikshuni called other members of her kind "female dogs," and because of that small verbal offense, she was born as a dog five hundred times. The cause and effect of the Great Vehicle are vast, as it is said in the Bodhicharyavatara: If one generates ill will towards such a prince, a benefactor, as many times as ill will is generated, one will dwell in hell for that many eons, so said the Thuba. Defaming the Dharma of the Great Vehicle and special individuals, and generating ill will, etc., even a small downfall of a Bodhisattva will cause suffering for many eons. In general, the magnitude of these karmas is shown to depend solely on the good or bad intention of the doer. Without a doer, there is no nature. Intentions dyed with black and white colors make karma and its result powerful. Without both the preliminary and subsequent actions, the power is small. Thus, the heaviness or lightness of the ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous karma depends on the difference in intention.
