The collection on the law of cause and effect, which is the commentary on the third chapter. The collection on the law of cause and effect, which is the commentary on the third chapter. The third general meaning is the establishment of the principle of cause and effect: Those who go to the next world, by what kind of rope are they bound? Only by good deeds and bad habits are they approached. The conventional truth is not deceptive. Whoever goes to the state of the next world is not annihilated like holding wrong views, nor does he go high or low by chance. The high and low of the next existence follows the infallible principle of cause and effect, as it is said in the Lotus of Compassion: The world is made by karma, and transformed by karma. Sentient beings are made by karma, born from the cause of karma, and distinguished by karma. And as it is said in the Precious Garland: From virtue comes happiness, and so do all the happy migrations. From non-virtue comes suffering, and so do all the evil migrations. So it is. In order to show that meaning by example, what kind of seeds are rich in variety, as seen by farmers and others. In other lives, having become familiar and accustomed, many actions make beings different. For example, crops follow the seeds themselves, and if bitter seeds such as bitter gourds and long peppers are sown, the fruits will also be only bitter and spicy. If grapes or mangoes are sown, only sweet tastes will appear. Likewise, non-virtuous actions produce the fruits of suffering and evil destinies, and virtuous actions produce the fruits of happiness and heaven. As it is said in the Noble Determination Sutra: Spicy seeds produce spicy fruits. Sweet seeds produce sweet fruits. By this example, the ripening of sins is spicy, and the fruit of virtue is sweet, which the wise should know. One should not commit three kinds of sins, and the wise should not rejoice in what others do. With body, speech, and mind, one should always do three kinds of virtuous deeds. Those who practice virtue should also rejoice in others. Therefore, it shows both the nature of the result arising from the cause and the place of acceptance and rejection. Although it is so

Sentient beings have been under the control of karma and afflictions since beginningless time. Because they follow them, they form different states of affairs, castes, and happiness and suffering, as stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "Sentient beings have different preferences, thus making the world impure." In particular, the differences in the actions and thoughts of human beings are difficult to measure, but the fruits ripen without confusion. As stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "People are like unripe mangoes, seemingly ripe but actually unripe, unripe appearing unripe, and ripe appearing ripe. Please understand the reason for this." The first case, like an unripe mango fruit that looks ripe on the outside but is unripe on the inside, refers to a person whose thoughts are declining but whose actions are perfect. Seemingly ripe but actually unripe refers to a person who is ripe on the inside but whose outer essence remains green, referring to a person whose actions are declining but whose thoughts are perfect. Appearing unripe and actually unripe refers to those whose thoughts and actions are both declining. Appearing ripe and actually ripe refers to those whose thoughts and actions are both perfect. Just as with causes, the nature of the fruits is also as stated in the sutras, the meaning of going from light to the end of light, etc., is stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "From light to the end of light, from darkness to the end of darkness, from light to the end of darkness, from darkness to the end of light, there are four types of people, please be the first of them." Going from light to the end of light refers to those who are born among gods and great powerful people and are born again in the same state. Going from darkness to the end of darkness refers to those who are born among small powerful people in the lower realms and are born again in one of those two realms. Going from light to the end of darkness refers to those who are born among gods and great powerful people and then are born among the three lower realms and small powerful people. Going from darkness to the end of light refers to those who are born from the three lower realms, etc., into the heavenly realms and among people with great power. Examples of the latter two cases are stingy people and the son of a god turning into a frog, etc., as stated in the commentary. Therefore, the fruits of good and evil from previous lives can be clearly understood through the happiness and suffering of this life, and the current
