All are possessed by sinful thoughts and are unmixed with virtue. The third is divided into two: white karma with black ripening, and black karma with white ripening. The first is: being unable to bear the wealth and prosperity of others, and if one obtains a position where only one's own side is victorious, one does not care even if many people lose their lives, and performs great offering ceremonies as if for a battle plan. For this, both the ripening and the self-result produce suffering, and as a result of the corresponding cause, it ripens into a mixture of black and white results of short life and great enjoyment. The second is: if applied to the conduct of a Bodhisattva, a leader of a caravan, with great compassion, kills a black man with a short spear in order to save the lives of hundreds of merchants, the ripening result is the completion of the accumulation of hundreds of thousands of kalpas, and the self-result produces happiness, but as a result of the corresponding cause, even after manifest enlightenment, a sandalwood thorn pierces the foot, and no one can pull it out, in this way, taking the karma as one's own. Therefore, in the Samadhiraja Sutra it is said: "Actions accumulated will never be destroyed, In samsara, black and white fruits will ripen." So it is said. The minds of us sentient beings, no matter which affliction we look at, we think that only this one is the greatest. Having been accustomed to it since beginningless time, we do not need to strive or study for sinful actions. All actions are suspected of attaining heaven. Now, although the Buddha's teachings are like the rising sun, most people have cut off their connection with the sacred Dharma. Like a madman harming his own life, if he is happy and comfortable in this life, he does not care about sinful actions, and only causes harm to future lives and beyond. Stubborn people are tamed with oil, but are deceived by the oiliness of butter. Householders are tamed with Dharma, but no one can tame a Dharma rogue. Although one always associates with the lama and stays in the midst of the Dharma, one's own mind seems as hard and sticky as dung. One mocks others for being slightly unchaste, but does not see oneself sleeping in a pile of dog excrement. Clear memory, which does not know the benefits and harms of this life and the next, has become dull. Because of this reason, one does not believe in the results of karma, and has faith in virtue.

Motivated by (evil deeds), it is only occasional in a hundred. Some pretend in front of laypeople, some are to please companions, some are to save face for food and drink. Laypeople seem to act for the sake of comfort, happiness, and fame, so purely virtuous actions are difficult to arise in anyone. Mixed good and bad actions are slightly fewer. Completely evil actions are very many. Therefore, in any case, one must carefully examine one's own mind, have deep faith in karma and its results, count good and evil like a Brahmin, and not accept unwholesome things like a poor tailor. If this is the case, just as all conditioned phenomena, initially built up, will eventually be destroyed, so too with evil deeds, if they can be accumulated initially, why can't they be confessed eventually? In particular, do not generate a concealing mind, feel regret for the faults, and openly confess them, this is the best antidote. The sutra also says: There are two kinds of great people: those who do not make mistakes, and those who correct them when they do. Just as if poison has entered the stomach, one must immediately resort to a doctor and induce vomiting and laxatives. In the minds of sentient beings, the cause of being born in the lower realms, namely karma and afflictions, still exists undiminished, and even with just a slight difference in the movement of thoughts, committing evil deeds is as easy as breathing. Therefore, to counteract this, one must generate strong remorse for the deeds done in the past, this is the power of destruction; relying on the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the Guru to confess, this is the power of reliance; doing prostrations, circumambulations, reciting prayers, remembering the fear of negative consequences, and other virtuous deeds, this is the power of the antidote of universal application; and the power of turning away from evil. For example, even if all the wealth of the three thousand worlds were piled up as a reward for committing evil, or if one had to cut off a piece of flesh every day, as long as one gave up the holy Dharma, even then one would not give it up. Because (the sutra) says: Even if I am burned to death, or my head is smashed, I will never submit to the realm of afflictions. Therefore, one needs to have such a powerful antidote.
