Possessing a perfectly complete place of faith, the flower of karma's end not destroyed by sin, a wish-fulfilling tree that has become a human being is extremely rare, like the arrival of the Tathagata Udumbara flower in the world. The flowers of the Dharma bloom, the garden of the teachings, abiding without fading, relying on the shade of the holy ones is even rarer. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of Twelve Branches of Leisure and Perfection, it is said: Obtaining a human body, being born in a sacred land, having complete faculties, not turning to evil deeds, and having faith in the place of dwelling, these five are self-perfection. The Tathagata appears, proclaims the Dharma, the holy Dharma abides in the world, others also practice it, and being loving to those who practice the Dharma, these five are other-perfection. As it is said, the five self-perfections are dependent on oneself: obtaining the special human body, the support of gods and Dharma, is perfection. Being born in the central land where the teachings abide is perfection. Having complete faculties, the support for hearing and thinking, is perfection. Not turning to evil deeds, constantly practicing virtue is perfection. Having faith in the place of faith, having faith in the teachings of the Tathagata is perfection. The five other-perfections are dependent on conditions, that is, the Tathagata's arrival in the world now is other-perfection. Turning the three wheels of Dharma and so on is other-perfection. The teachings also abide without fading away is other-perfection. Entering the teachings is also other-perfection. Having a virtuous spiritual friend who is a guide to liberation is also other-perfection. Thus, if the eighteen qualities of leisure and endowment are not complete, it cannot become a special support for practicing the Dharma, therefore, the Bodhicharyavatara says: If one has not obtained a human body, one only creates evil deeds, when will one have the opportunity to practice virtue? If I do not practice virtue at that time, all the sufferings of the lower realms are ignorant, what will I do at that time? Thus it is. Fourth, the reason for being difficult to obtain: What is the tree of self-perfection, the Udumbara flower born of other conditions, the ten kinds of perfections of both, the eight leisures clinging to this are difficult to obtain again. What is the analogy of the blind turtle's neck and the yoke, the number of humans and animals, divided by the stars of day and night, those hungry ghosts and hells should be known in order. Thus it is said. Self-perfection
