If these two sets of eight leisureless states are thoroughly examined and not taken or rejected, then merely being born as a human is only a temporary respite, and it is difficult to be a support for practicing the Dharma. In particular, those who follow the Dharma or those with extreme behavior are mostly far from the Dharma and turn their backs on the path of liberation. The Nirvana Sutra says: 'Son of good family, after the Tathagata has completely passed into Nirvana, there will be internal strife and the destruction of countries. In that evil time, the calamity of famine will cause most to become monks and shave their heads. They will drive away those monks who are pure in morality, proper in rituals, perfect in merit, and noble in conduct.' The Supreme Samadhi Sutra says: 'From five hundred to eight hundred years, my attendants will wear the clothes of householders, raise cattle, sheep, cats, donkeys, and horses, and store a lot of grain. They will make their own crafts prosper, eat for themselves, and also raise male and female servants. At that time, one in a thousand thousands will attain the four fruits of a renunciate. From eight hundred to a thousand years, my attendants will learn sinful Dharma, associate with kings, princes, ministers, and householders, and even exchange information with each other, plow fields, and store a lot of grain and fodder, as well as gold, silver, and the seven precious jewels, eat meat and drink alcohol, wear fancy clothes like prostitutes, and engage in seduction and singing and dancing.' It also says: 'After a thousand years, there will be large-scale conflicts, and although my attendants will wear monastic robes, they will be like flags hung on wood, without any majesty. Even if seen by laypeople, they will not be respected, but will be like butchers.' And so on, the sutras widely proclaim. Therefore, do not be born in the eight leisureless states, nor become the sixteen situations similar to them. Even if you temporarily become like that, rely on the guru and profound instructions, and in this time when you can change your mind, spend your days and nights diligently. The summary of the meaning is as follows: In the realm of sin, suffering, and turmoil, tired and fearful, with impure merit, towards the Dharma

The eight states of being without leisure. After contemplating, make your leisure meaningful. This is the teaching. Third, identifying the nature of leisure and endowment, there are two parts: explaining the essence of leisure, and explaining the special qualities of endowment. The first part is: Like this, the twenty-four states of not having leisure, which separate body and mind, are called leisure because they are free from busyness. Because one possesses a physical basis and correct wisdom, it is called endowment. In particular, the supreme Mahayana leisure and endowment is: As stated in the "Akashagarbha Sutra": "Bhagavan, how should one view leisure and endowment?" The reply was: "The mind being disturbed and scattered by conceptual thoughts is called busyness. The mind being pacified from conceptual thoughts and abiding in its own nature is called leisure. Endowment is knowing the nature of the mind, and because one possesses correct wisdom, it is called endowment." Here, for the moment, quoting from the "Ksitigarbha Sutra": "In samsara, there are ten types of beings who are difficult to obtain a human body, what are these ten? Not generating roots of virtue, not accumulating merit, following evil friends, connecting with afflictions, not fearing the suffering of future lives, the mind being disturbed by afflictions, always being lazy and distracted from the Dharma, even entering the Buddha's teachings but not practicing them, following wrong views, and firmly grasping wrong views." As it is said, having escaped from the karmic consequences of doing evil deeds like these, now practicing pure white virtuous deeds, obtaining a special basis in the higher realms, and transforming into the nature of leisure, is a treasure of supreme merit, as stated in the "Father and Son Meeting Sutra": "Completely abandoning all eight states of not having leisure, having obtained the difficult-to-obtain leisure and endowment, having gained faith in the Sugata's teachings, wise ones practice the yoga of wisdom." And in the "Smrtyupasthana Sutra": "Joyful One, whatever good things you have seen and heard, just as they arise from contemplating leisure, so too should one view all the happiness and good qualities that people obtain." Second, how does one possess the ten endowments? Being in a central, pure land, having senses
