Lust that is satisfied by laughter arises. Previously, when the lifespan decreased by five hundred years, from the essence or grease of the earth, there was food with a color like gold and a taste of honey, and soft kapok was worn as clothes. At that time, lust that was satisfied by touch arose. In this way, due to the coarse element food, the body became hard and heavy, and the afflictions and latent ignorance actually arose. The desire for intercourse arose between men and women, and so they were born from the womb. When others saw them engaging in desire, they felt ashamed and built houses, so they were named "houses of shame."
