Therefore, one should rely on a spiritual friend. Moreover, it is said in the Avatamsaka Sutra: 'Noble son, you should generate a mind like looking at a spiritual friend, without being weary of all burdens; a mind like a vajra, unshaken by all harms; a mind like a disciple, not contradicting all words; a mind like a servant, listening to all instructions; and a mind like a castrated bull king, without arrogance.' Thus it is said. If you are wealthy, offer to the fourth jewel. All service and attendance performed with body, speech, and mind will never be wasted. Among the three kinds of satisfaction, this is the best practice. Giving is a supreme field for receiving a vast essence, and it is also the supreme place for accumulating merit and virtue, because the Three Jewels are all gathered together. Therefore, the noble lama is praised with the expression of the fourth. As it is said in the Buddha Samayogam: 'Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, the Lama is the fourth.' Moreover, the great teacher said that the Lama is the nature of all mandalas: 'The Lama is the Buddha, the Lama is the Dharma, likewise, the Lama is the Sangha, the Lama is the unsurpassed doer of all, the Lama is the great glorious Heruka.' The meaning of this is that the unchanging nature of the Buddha is the Dharmakaya, which possesses all excellent qualities, and it cannot be attained by any other means without relying on the Lama. Therefore, it is also said in the Do Gong Du: 'The Buddhas of hundreds of thousands of kalpas, know that the teacher is most important. Why did the Buddhas of hundreds of thousands of kalpas arise by relying on teachers?' Similarly, it is also explained in the Kalachakra. Because of this, all the Buddhas of the ten directions pay homage and praise the virtuous beings who possess qualities, as it was said before: 'To the wise who possess meaning, in all times of the three times, the Sugatas, the Victorious Ones, who dwell in the fields of the ten directions, come, and pay homage with praise and respect.' Similarly, when holy beings are born, pass into nirvana, ascend from ground to ground, and show special deeds, the earth shakes, and rainbows, light, sounds, and other wonders appear, shaking the world and revealing many amazing sights.

Moreover, this is also a sign of the actions and gatherings of gods, nagas, yakshas, and others who delight in the teachings. As it was said before: "Bodhisattvas, gods, and humans, likewise nagas and yakshas, and rakshas with wrong views, all the vidyadharas gather, scattering emanated flowers, venerable Lama and spiritual friend, you are the father of us all." And so on, extensively spoken. In the definitive statement, the way of speaking of the Lama alone is also in the supreme field, as it was said before: "Therefore, to a thousand Buddhas, making offerings for a thousand kalpas, is not as good as applying one drop of sandalwood paste to each pore of the Lama's skin, even a thousand times over." And in the Samputa Tantra it says: "Why is it that the merit of offering to the Buddhas of the ten directions and the Bodhichitta is not as superior as one pore of the Guru? Therefore, those who make offerings to the Guru are seen by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas." Thus, when Ananda, the brother of the Tathagata, became the son of King Krka, his skin turned golden because he served and venerated the Buddha Kashyapa with ointment. And by undertaking the effort of hanging umbrellas on the stupa of his relics, he became a Chakravartin.

offerings. As it is said, even if the lama does not need or desire those things, if from the point of view of one's own generosity, the thought arises from the bottom of one's heart that one must definitely offer, then one will obtain merit equal to that of offering. In the meantime, to please the lama by serving with body and speech, it is said in the Bodhisattva Pitaka: In order to obtain meaning in a meaningless body, one should please the lama, and even if one has nothing, one should offer a jar full of water. As it is said. It is said in the earlier tantra: One's own body should also be redeemed with wealth of whatever value is appropriate. As it is said, in order to obtain meaning in a meaningless body, one should serve, spread cushions, offer hand towels, act as a messenger, engage in crafts, handle the affairs of the dwelling, and even lift and place things, and do welcoming and sending off, etc. If one's own body is able to do it, that is the best. If one is not able to do it, since one's own body has already been offered, one should establish the concept that one is not in control of oneself, and then accomplish it by means of redemption, that is, by paying wages to others to practice the various fields of knowledge, or if there is something that one cannot do no matter what, one should do it oneself, or as it is said in the Fifty Verses on the Guru: For those who are not able, train with words. As it is said, one should carefully consider the circumstances of cause and condition, and then obtain permission. Such merit is immeasurable, as Yeshe Gyatso (Tibetan place name) said: Whoever is a skilled and fortunate person for the work of the lama, then he is more important than prostrating to all the Buddhas of the three times for six million kalpas. If one acts according to the lama's instructions, then all wishes will be fulfilled, and one will obtain immeasurable merit. Whoever pleases the lama with his own wealth and possessions, then this person will be able to rest in the realm of the emanation body from the cycle of the three realms, and go to the place of Nirvana. As it is said. Thus, by relying on the two methods of service or offering, one should grasp the lama's intention, and thus understand the profound and vast Dharma well, and finally please the lama solely through the offering of practice, as it is said in the General Sutra: The former holy Sugatas, after pleasing the excellent guide, went to the end of the solitary monastery, therefore one should try harder to please the excellent lama than this. As it is said. Then
