There are also favorable conditions that rely on relatives and friends. Like this, if the eighteen qualities of leisure and endowment are not complete, it cannot become a special basis for practicing Dharma. Therefore, it is said in the Bodhicharyavatara: 'If one does not obtain a human body, one only commits sins, when will there be time to practice virtue? Even if one has leisure and endowment, if I do not practice virtue, when all sufferings afflict me, what will I do then?' Fourth, the difficulty of obtaining: Why is the tree that one possesses, and the Udumbara flower that arises from other conditions, both possessing the ten qualities, combined with the eight freedoms, difficult to obtain again? Why is the example of the blind turtle's neck and the yoke used? The number is as rare as the stars of humans and animals day and night, and one will gradually understand the hungry ghosts and hell beings. 'It is said. What one possesses is as rare as a wish-fulfilling tree, and what arises from other conditions is even rarer, like the Udumbara flower. It is said in the Jataka Sutra: 'Beyond the north of the great unheated lake, there is a mountain called Five Peaks Mountain, and opposite that mountain, there is an Udumbara garden. When the Buddha Bhagavan descends from the Tushita heaven and enters the mother's womb, the buds of that garden will bloom. When he is born from the mother's womb, that garden will open. When he attains the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, the flowers of that garden will bloom. When he abandons his life, that garden will wither. When he completely enters nirvana, the leaves, flowers, petals, and fruits of that garden will all fall.' And it is also said in the Essence Chapter: 'It is difficult for Buddhas to appear in the world, just like the Udumbara flower as an example.' These two are called precious human bodies for those who have a leisure body and are complete men. The metaphor of difficulty is mentioned in the Letter to a Friend: 'A piece of wood floating in the ocean' and other meanings are widely explained in the Sutra Pitaka. Monks, in a world that has become a great ocean, there is a long-lived blind turtle,

There is a group of beings that appear only once every hundred years. In that great ocean, there is a yoke with a single hole. If the east wind blows, it moves westward; if the west wind blows, it floats eastward. Similarly, there is a hole that floats in all directions. Can the turtle's neck fit into it? When asked this question, the retinue replied: Even if the ocean is small, it might fit, but the ocean is too large. Even if the yoke is fixed in one direction and has many holes, it might fit; but it floats in the east, west, south, and north, and has only one hole. The turtle does not stay still, but always floats on the surface of the sea, and if it had eyes, it might fit, but it appears only once every hundred years and has no eyes, so it is impossible to fit. Bhikshus, there is a time when the neck of that blind turtle will fit into the hole of the yoke. Bhikshus, obtaining a human body is even more difficult than that, as the Buddha himself said. Therefore, do not let this leisure become meaningless! If it becomes without leisure, it will be impossible to make amends later. Similar content is also extensively explained in the Garland of Flowers. If it is so difficult to obtain a human body, and if one thinks that there are so many people, then, in general, having a human body with leisure is like a mustard seed on the tip of a needle. In particular, considering the number of other beings, it is very difficult to obtain even just a human body. For example, a human body is like a star in the daytime, while animals are like stars in the night. Animals are like stars in the daytime, while hungry ghosts are like stars in the night. Hungry ghosts are also like stars in the daytime, while hells are like stars in the night. As it is said: Animals are like the lees of wine in the outer ocean, hungry ghosts are like a blizzard, and hells are as numerous as the dust particles of the great earth. This can also be understood through reason. If one observes the creatures seen in a forest, a river, a beehive, or a ray of sunlight, then the entire container world is like an empty wilderness without people or cities. Obtaining a human body is samsara.
