Jaya Jaya, Labdhe Labdhe, Maha Mate Dakshi Dakshini, Parishodhaya Svaha. Thus recite. From the aspiration prayer spoken in the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son, may all those who give me water to drink, and those who serve me, respect me, honor me, and make offerings to me, attain the bliss of near peace! May those who speak harshly to me, and those who give me food, attain the bliss of near peace! Those who do, make unhappy, beat, stab with weapons, and even kill in all ways, may all those attain the bliss of enlightenment and manifest complete and perfect enlightenment! Thus speak from the heart. Thus, the people of the southern Jambudvipa, because survival requires both, cannot but rely on coarse food, therefore, those who enter the path of the doctrine, even if they only possess these three: the preliminary, actual, and subsequent actions of offering pure food, will make leisure meaningful. To steal by means of extremely impure means to make a living, to seek a living through acquisition, to flatter hypocritically, and the five kinds of wrong livelihood measured by acquisition, will defile the asceticism of the upright. Therefore, a good dwelling, a good livelihood, and good friends and actions arouse courage. Among them, in general, wrong livelihood is stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: Do not learn the science of crafts. Do not buy and sell. Do not rely on the king and the king's son, as well as ministers and merchants, for food. Do not eat the food of the house of death and birth, as well as the food of joy and friendship, do not mix with monks and nuns. This is not allowed for yogis. As it is said. Whatever is done with a mind accompanied by afflictions for the sake of survival, and whatever understanding of survival comes through it, this is called wrong livelihood. Similarly, to make a living by buying and selling for the sake of gain, to make a living by teaching the Dharma, to make a living by practicing medicine, to make a living by knowing divination and so on, through the application of mantras, and observing signs, astrology, diviners, hypocritical behavior, and any non-virtuous livelihood, craftsmen, arrow making and

Living by means of offering flowers, fruits, roots, leaves, toothpicks, etc., is a wrong livelihood. The explanation of wrong livelihood is extensively shown in the "Commentary on Wrong Livelihood." Here, five specific wrong livelihoods are pointed out: First, hoping for others to give, begging others with harsh words; second, clearly having food and clothing, but secretly hiding them, pretending to be poor so that others know, all the wealth obtained in this way is an impure livelihood, which is called stealing by means. Exchanging what is obtained for more gains is to first give a little food or drink, thereby controlling the other party, making them unable to refuse, and then collecting more wealth from the other party. Seeking wealth through flattery is to tell others how diligently one has studied, contemplated, and meditated, how one has escaped fame and fortune and worldly affairs, and how one has abandoned wealth and possessions, or to fabricate lies that one has saved the lives of other sentient beings such as fish and wild animals, or that one is performing grand offerings and virtuous deeds, thereby deceiving others and obtaining wealth. Seeking wealth through hypocrisy is to pretend to be calm in behavior, gentle in speech, dignified in expression, disciplined, relaxed, and upright in front of others, even though one does not restrain one's mind, is not tamed, is lax, eats a lot, has fallen from vows, and is not impartial, or to pretend to treat the eight worldly concerns (gain, loss, destruction, reputation, praise, ridicule, suffering, and happiness) equally, behaving crudely, speaking seemingly frankly but actually hypocritically, hiding bad intentions in one's heart, thereby confusing others, and then obtaining wealth. Measuring by what is obtained is to say that so-and-so patron gave me so much wealth or goods, and the reason he gave it was because he saw that I was pure in morality, learned, proficient in yoga, noble in lineage, bloodline, and origin, the monastery was excellent, and I possessed the qualities of an elder. To this, I also accepted it because I had loving affection for him. Saying this directly, or writing it in a letter, or forcibly demanding it even though others do not give it, or complaining that I receive too few offerings in remote areas, or saying that I have recited and memorized so much...
