That connects to the place of mental discomfort. Of the three of mind, the first is covetousness: coveting the wealth of others and claiming it as one's own. Similarly, craving and enjoying the possessions of others. Harmful intent, being angry with others, inciting harm. Similarly, cultivating separation from beneficial connections. Wrong view, believing there is no cause and effect, or believing in permanence and annihilation. Similarly, exaggerating what is not there, concealing what is there. These three aspects of mind each have a real and a similar one. Covetousness is perfected by two branches: the basis on which covetousness arises, which is something belonging to another; and the generation of covetousness towards it. Examining this in terms of the combination of mind with the five qualities, if the basis is not another's, there is no cause for covetousness; if attachment is not generated towards it, there is no condition for covetousness; if the particularity of the object is seen, and while savoring its taste, the mind does not claim it as its own, it will not become a manifestation of true anger; if the mind does not exert effort, it is not covetousness. Therefore, these four qualities are complete as co-emergent when covetousness arises. Furthermore, if one desires to obtain the happiness and fruition of higher realms in future lives and makes prayers, if that is also considered the ultimate of covetousness, then if one prays for someone with eyes to obtain eyes, that also becomes covetousness, so whose eyes are being targeted? Through this reasoning, it should be understood that it will create faults in the results of virtuous actions. Also, from the Treasury [Abhidharmakośa]: 'Covetousness, wrong conduct, attachment to others' wealth. Harmful intent, hatred towards sentient beings. Seeing no good or non-good. This is called wrong view.' Therefore, it is considered only to crave wealth of the same kind in this life and to claim it as one's own with the mind. If one attains the position of Brahma, Indra, etc., then if one does not have power over their territory and enjoyment, whose covetousness will one follow? Also, in the commentary on the Discrimination of Migrations: 'Being angry at hearing, etc., causes covetousness; being displeased with benefit causes anger; and slandering the true spiritual friend, the Dharma, and others is similar to it.' Therefore, thinking that it would be good if others' belongings, etc., were one's own, and claiming them with covetousness is covetousness. Regarding the possessions of others and hearing, etc.

The thought of wishing to control me even when unbearable is an auxiliary factor. Harmful intent is perfected by two branches: the basis is sentient beings, and constantly thinking of tormenting them. To explain the distinctions in detail: being angry or wrathful towards other sentient beings, that is, the nine objects of constantly thinking of tormenting them: thinking that they have harmed me, are harming me, or will harm me; and thinking that they have harmed, are harming, or will harm any who are my friends, agreeable, and wish to benefit; and thinking that they have benefited, are benefiting, or will benefit any who are not in harmony with me, disagreeable, wish to harm, and do not wish to benefit. From being connected with previous grudges, distinguishing through the three ways of past, present, and future, from the distinction of anticipating and then judging, the mind of hatred that utterly despises the harmer, repeatedly remembering the resentment is the mind of anger, being utterly unable to bear it is the mind of pride, the mind of malice that thinks killing or beating would be acceptable, the mind of delusion that is overwhelmed by shame and faults, possessing these five qualities. The auxiliary factor is: not liking benefit and liking the accumulation of bad things, and cultivating separation from goodness. Wrong view is perfected by two branches: the basis is non-perversion, that is, certainty that the law of cause and effect is not deceptive, and the thought is perverted, that is, the wrong view of definitely thinking that there are no results of virtue and non-virtue, and viewing as permanent or nihilistic. The auxiliary factor is: being angry with the Dharma and special individuals, and ignorance, those whose results of good and evil have not ripened into visible phenomena, some who have accumulated powerful karma are temporarily born in happy realms, saying such things, doubting whether the results of karma are true or not, this situation is common, and this also becomes an auxiliary factor of wrong view regarding cause and effect. Now, explaining the results of these. The manner in which four results ripen for all: the result of complete maturation, the result similar to the cause, the dominant result, and the result of action. Since it is produced by an unwholesome object, an unwholesome intention, and unwholesome thoughts and actions, it is the result of complete maturation, the result similar to the cause, and the dominant or autonomous result, on top of these three.
