Those who do not trust in what is certain or never deceiving, even if they perform the three activities of hearing, thinking, and meditating, and giving alms, etc., due to the wrong view of not believing in cause and effect, the ripening result will be reversed. As it says in the "Letter to a Friend": "If you wish to attain heaven and liberation, you should cultivate the habit of right view. Even if a person with wrong views performs virtuous deeds, all their ripening will not be good." Some apply the term "right view" only to the ultimate truth, but since the result of this right view is related to heaven, it is a worldly right view. As the Bhagavan said: "Whoever has worldly right view, even after a thousand kalpas, will not fall into the lower realms." This is clear. Those who greatly believe in cause and effect can generate great results even from small causes of merit, so motivation is very important. For example, in the past, a monk begged for alms from a householder, and the householder said, "If you are an Arhat, I will offer alms, otherwise I will not give." The monk said, "I am not an Arhat," and left. Later, the householder thought that he must be an Arhat because he had so few desires, so he invited the monk back and said, "Whether you are an Arhat or not, please teach me the Dharma." Then he offered alms, and thus obtained the merit of offering to an Arhat. Therefore, good or bad motivation is the only driver, and the appearance of good or evil does not depend on the size of the power. As it is said: "If the root is medicine, the sprout is also medicine; if the root is poison, what need is there to mention the sprout? Good and bad intention is the driver, the size of the image of good and evil does not follow." Combining this metaphor with the meaning, if the motivation is pure, then the actions of body and speech, even if they temporarily appear in other forms, will be completely transformed into good, which exists in the state of the Great Vehicle. As it says in the "Garland of Jewels": "Without attachment, without hatred, and without ignorance, the actions produced by that are good." And "The good of bad intention is the image of good; the actions produced by attachment, hatred, and ignorance are not good." And the sutra says: "With a good intention, placing two shoes on the head of the Buddha, similarly, others removed them.

Both will gain the kingdom. Thus, they thoroughly understood that the fear of rain destroying the statue and the fear of mice damaging the statue both became the cause for obtaining the kingdom. Moreover, this mainly discusses the differences in the weight of good and evil deeds of beings in the desire realm. Therefore, it is said: Constancy and strong attachment, remedies are powerless; Merit is the main, deeds arising from the basis; These five, the near-taking of the weight of good and evil, are well-spoken of as the aspects of consciousness. As it is said. Among them, the heaviness of karma is caused by four kinds of differences in causes, namely: application, intention, remedy, and basis. Among them, first, the difference in application is constancy, that is, even with small karma, one practices it for a long time. For example, even for the sake of doing a small harm to other beings, one harbors evil thoughts for a long time and integrates them into oneself. Second, the difference in intention is strong attachment, that is, although the actual karma is short in duration, it is accompanied by strong afflictions and joy, in a state of anger, excitement, and ferocity, the mind does not turn to anything other than that karma. For example, when King Ashoka was tormented by sinful thoughts, if actions such as killing were not completed at the beginning of the day, his mind could not be at peace, and he would not even eat. Third, the difference in remedy is that if the karma that has been done is suppressed by relying on a basis with the nature of Bodhicitta, and by relying on the Three Jewels, and by performing powerful remedies such as refutation, it will become weak. If that karma has no remedy and is practiced with arrogance, it will become powerful. Fourth, the basis is of two kinds, namely, possessing merit and benefiting. Possessing merit are the Three Jewels, Bodhisattvas who are one lifetime away from Buddhahood, and those who arise from cessation, etc. Benefiting are parents, those who need to be repaid for their kindness, and those who have become objects of compassion, etc. Therefore, these five are the near-takers who, whether one does good or evil deeds, are certain to produce results and produce many results.
