The six distractions: the mind wandering to external objects, not focusing on the meaning of the words of the Dharma while meditating, the mind being drawn to sleepiness and drowsiness, or feeling bored because of the length of time or because of not understanding. To counteract these six distractions, in the past, King Shanivali lit a thousand lamps on his body to hear a single four-word Dharma teaching; King Galing hammered a thousand nails into his body to hear the Dharma. Thinking of their diligence, the Buddha said: The appearance of the Tathagatas is rare, being born as a human is extremely rare, obtaining the leisure and endowment is rare, and having faith in the teachings of the Tathagatas is rare. Therefore, one should always contemplate the faults of samsara and listen to the Dharma with respect. Why? Because I will declare here: The true Dharma will surely decline, and the light of the Dharma will be lost, the light of wisdom will completely decline, virtuous friends will not naturally appear, an extremely terrifying time is approaching, and know that you will live together with minds that do not possess the Dharma, therefore listen to the Dharma with respect. For these reasons, one must be alert and listen attentively. The five faults of non-grasping are: not grasping the words but focusing on the meaning, although it is said that way, but if both the words and the meaning are wrong, then one must rely on the words to understand the meaning. Not grasping the meaning is that some people only focus on the words. If one does not think about the meaning expressed by the words, it is like the Bhikshu Devadatta, who memorized many scriptures but without meaning. Grasping without understanding the meaning, if we take this treatise as an example, naming the meaning as "Treasury of Qualities", naming the example as "Chariot of Two Truths". The Fruition Vehicle is pure, equal, and great, therefore, in the treatise where the name is transformed into "Omniscient Chariot", if someone spends countless eons listening, thinking, and meditating, but does not strive for the method of easily understanding, they will lose the necessary meaning of achieving temporary and ultimate benefits. Similarly, the basis of view, the practice of the path, and the behavior of companions, all three are shown without error, this is the meaning of the summary, and the meaning of the words.

The thirteenth chapter is extensively explained with commentary, and the connection between the preceding and following is that when a person enters the path, the foundation of the Dharma is established, which is extensively explained from the first to the tenth chapters. The latter three chapters show the uncommon aspects of the ground, path, and fruit of the Great Perfection of Naturalness, which is necessary. The remaining meaning, including refutations and answers, is to establish one's own tenets, and to thoroughly understand the distinctions of the meaning of words and sentences. These, if applied to the situation of the lecturer, are the wisdom of exposition. For those who wish to speak on the essence of the sutras, a little instruction should be given. That instruction is as follows: Include the essential meaning of the summary, include refutations and answers and connections, and explain with the meaning of words and sentences. This is the meaning of that. Incorrect understanding is that although it is said that the tradition of the teachings and the correct path have been established, they cling to small instructions and are unwilling to measure the essence of the Dharma. Incomplete understanding is that they grasp what is important and what they think is right, and become lazy in the small and difficult places, so they do not fully understand the whole of the treatise, which is of no benefit to themselves or others. Therefore, just as a bee tastes the essence of a flower, it is indispensable to be willing to be close to the practice of listening to the Dharma that will appear below. From beginningless time, the plague of birth, old age, sickness, and death has struck, and with the taste of the great medicine of nectar, those who abandon the excellent Dharma in their hands, how shall I advise them? Having said this, denying and abandoning is to speak of the faults of not accepting the excellent Dharma. Like this, birth comes from the four ways of the womb and so on. Old age is the aging of age. Sickness is the imbalance of the elements. Death is the abandonment of life. Like this, a very fierce plague has struck from beginningless time until now and made the world bad, but for its antidote, the great medicine of the excellent Dharma, nectar, is not obtained by hearing, not manifested by thinking, and not grasped by meditation, the fault of that is like a person who is severely afflicted by disease, fleeing from the doctor and wandering in the desolate plain. The Friend's Letter says: Who can obtain the nectar that eliminates birth, sickness, old age, and death?
