When external objects completely disappear, the appearance of knowledge becomes slightly clearer, which acts as an antidote to clinging to external objects, hence it is called "Warmth." As stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "Like that of thatness, when a Bodhisattva enters samadhi, not understanding what the mind says, does not see all meanings." Second, the appearance of knowledge becomes clearer due to the previous clarity, and in order to increase the appearance of Dharma, one engages in firm diligence, hence it is called "Peak." As it says: "To increase the appearance of Dharma, constantly exert firm diligence." Third, because one has entered one aspect of suchness, the appearance of external objects being grasped does not appear, and the appearance of knowledge arises. At this time, one abides in mind-only, hence it is called "Forbearance." As it says: "When the appearance of Dharma increases, one abides in mind-only. Then all appearances of objects appear as mind. At that time, the distraction of its object is abandoned." Fourth, when the aspect of the grasper and the non-dual knowledge also completely disappear, the appearances arising from worldly meditation completely disappear, hence it is called "Supreme Dharma." As it says: "Then, the distraction of the grasper is solely gathered." From this point onward, the nature of wisdom, in terms of meditative equipoise, is the emptiness of non-conceptual wisdom, and the subsequent attainment arising from that is the part of great compassion, with both conceptual and non-conceptual wisdom as appropriate. Therefore, this supreme Supreme Dharma is the Mahayana Path of Seeing, without any interruption from others. As it says: "At that time, without interruption, one quickly attains samadhi." Among them, Warmth and Peak are small, and are the paths of joining at an uncertain time for the arising of the Path of Seeing. Forbearance is medium, and is the path of joining that is certain to give rise to the Path of Seeing in the next life. Supreme Dharma is large, and is the path of joining that gives rise to the Path of Seeing in this very life. Furthermore, this stage of relying on skillful means is like a magician Bodhisattva, in order not to be inverted, combining the transcendent wisdom with the path of skillful means and wisdom, and is merely a matter of very firm faith. Since the suchness of the two selflessnesses is not directly realized, it is conduct by faith.
