The Dharma was taught to counteract them. To some, the Dharma of completely reversing from sins was taught. To some, the two truths of cause and effect were taught, such as "If you see the water aspect." To some, the two truths were taught, namely the Dharma of differentiation. To those with profound obscurities, the Dharma with the essence of emptiness and compassion was taught, according to their inclinations. As such, for those great minds who understand the manner in which the teachings arise in conjunction with the vessels of those to be tamed, contradictions are not aggregations. Because they well know the occasion of words, meanings, intentions, and purposes, they are able to properly discern the manner of the scriptures, which is the second key to viewing the sutras and tantras. Now, in order to show the classification of the Dharma to be measured, from the perspective of what is to be measured, all eighty-four thousand doors of Dharma spoken by the Victorious Ones are ultimately: worldly conventional truth and ultimate truth; there is no third beyond these two. Depending on the fact that sentient beings' realms possess three self-existing afflictions to be tamed, there are the taming sacred Dharmas: the Vinaya, the Sutras, and the Abhidharma, which are the three pitakas; or the three trainings of manifestation and realization; or, from the perspective of a definite and vast number, all eighty-four thousand doors of Dharma that were spoken rely on the conventional truth of how things appear and the ultimate truth of how things are, so the third is negated. As it says in the Sutra of Meeting Father and Son: "These two truths are known by the wise of the world; you have not heard them from others, but have seen them yourself. They are conventional truth and ultimate truth; there is no third truth whatsoever." Thus it is. Conventional truth has two aspects of appearance: the appearance of deluded consciousness. As many appearances as there are, those that function in accordance with the appearance itself are the correct conventional truth, but those that appear but do not function are known as false conventional truth. In that regard, the nature of the eight aggregates of consciousness during the time of sentient beings is the various differences that arise from deluded appearances, deluded grasping, and deluded consciousness, which are produced by conditioned conventional truth. They appear as deceptive and false, untrue and changing, deluded and suffering, and are established from the perspective of intellect and concepts, being extremely contradictory to the actual meaning. Even so, the appearance and the aspect of knowledge at that time

In short, provisionally based on what can be established as either true or false, there are true conventional truth and false conventional truth. For example, that which accords with appearance and is able to perform a function, arises from a cause, and accords with common appearance, namely, the four great elements externally, and internally, that which is comprised of one's own consciousness, is true conventional truth; that which appears but is unable to perform a function, such as the moon in water, or a chariot drawn by a painter, is considered false conventional truth. In the Two Truths it says: "Though similar in appearance, according to whether they can or cannot perform a function, the divisions of true and untrue conventional truth are also made." These two, though they appear as two when spoken of, are not seen as different when measured from the perspective of their nature, for they are the same in arising from habit and mistaken appearance, and the same in appearing to the separate objects of the senses. For the time being, the function that appears merely in mistaken appearance, if it exists in the object of observation of eye consciousness, existence is the same, and if it does not exist, non-existence is the same, therefore it is not established by its own nature. In particular, if one looks to the basis of distinction, the realm of phenomena itself, then at the time of attaining the wisdom of the noble ones, all thoughts and appearances with attachment to truth in the mind are false conventional truth, and all appearances and appearances without attachment to truth are true conventional truth. The basis of delusion and the deluded thought are liberated into the realm of phenomena, and therefore the reality of no self-nature is realized, as asked by the Jewel Heap: "Like the reflection of a face in a perfectly clear mirror, know that phenomena are without self-nature, Jewel Heap." The ultimate truth is the way of abiding of reality, the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, the essence is non-dual, beyond thought and expression, and cannot be established by the mind of thought and non-thought. The ultimate truth is the reality of reality, the nature of which is peaceful, without elaboration, beyond one and many, and all phenomena of samsara and phenomena are originally without self-nature, therefore it cannot be established by the minds of ordinary beings who are aware or unaware. The Root Wisdom says: "Not known from others, peaceful, not elaborated by elaborations, without conceptualization, without different meanings, that is its characteristic." That is to say, if thoughts cannot be established, then it is unreasonable to divide into two truths, is it a fruit without a cause?
