Because it is considered that many people will eventually become like the boatman who crosses the ocean of samsara. Regarding the intention towards individuals: for those who boast of generosity and cling to discipline, both of these are disparaged, and patience and diligence are praised. For example, Venerable Kashyapa prostrates to the crescent moon but not to the full moon. Similarly, Venerable Kashyapa, those who have great faith in certain objects, they will prostrate to Bodhisattvas, but not to the Tathagatas. It is said like this.

Those Bodhisattvas and great Shravaka disciples, seeing that the Buddha had washed his bowl and hands, sat before Manjushri, who had become a youth, in order to listen to the Dharma, and said: "Manjushri, please dispel my regrets." Manjushri said: "Great King, your regrets cannot be dispelled even by Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges." Then, King Ajatashatru, not finding refuge, fell upon the great earth like a tree being cut down. Then, the great Elder Kashyapa said this to King Ajatashatru: "Great King, Manjushri, who has become a youth, is skilled at teaching in a hidden way. Without fear or dread, ask him why he said this." Like that. Therefore, here, although from the aspect of the object it is a hidden intention, from the aspect of language, it is to direct towards the Dharma name or part that the other party likes, so as to point to the goal in a non-erroneous way. If divided, there are entering, nature, antidote, and transformation. Entering hidden intention, which Shravaka would be afraid of emptiness and abandon the Mahayana? Because it is said that there is form, it is understood as established and entered. Appearance like a dream is the intention. The nature of hidden intention is the meaning of no self-nature. In order to understand, there are the three aspects of the imputed, the dependent, and the perfectly established. First, nature is no self-nature; second, birth is no self-nature; third, ultimate truth is no self-nature. Therefore, all dharmas are explained in profound ways. The antidote hidden intention is to dispel the wrong views of others. Lifespan, lineage, and physical stature are not the measure. All Buddhas' form bodies and Dharma bodies are equal. It is also considered equal for the object of accumulation. The transformation hidden intention is for what should not be killed, such as killing parents, and what should not be destroyed, such as destroying a king and a virtuous person. This is the meaning imputed to attachment, grasping, alaya, etc. If one clings to the real meaning, that is a great mistake. Among them, entering hidden intention is: Some Shravaka lineage people are afraid when they hear the non-self of Dharma. In the midst of the snowy mountains, two monks from India, abiding in the twelve qualities of practice, came before the Pandit Dipamkara, who flawlessly proclaimed the view of the Middle Way.

When the venerable one spoke of the selflessness of persons, those two, and when speaking of the selflessness of phenomena, did not say such things, saying "Please, fear, fear," and when hearing the Heart Sutra, the ears were purified. The venerable one was discouraged and spurred on by loving-kindness, compassion, and bodhicitta, saying that if one does not strive for the special accumulations, one will not go anywhere by merely keeping pure vows. In order to bring such a person into the Great Vehicle, the sutra says: "Subhuti, form is a sign, sound is a sign." Like that, by saying "Form exists," the listener does not generate doubts, and the speaker understands it as phenomena existing like a dream. The implicit thought regarding characteristics is: In order to understand the profound reality of emptiness, that is, the non-existence of the self of phenomena, for the imputed it is characteristic, for the dependent it is arising, and for the thoroughly established it is the ultimate truth. Because there are no three natures, it shows that the expression of phenomena is profound. The teacher Great Wisdom said: Profound is not done by oneself, not done by others, not done by both, and not arising from no cause. The implicit thought of the antidote is: In the Sutra of the Fortunate Aeon, when teaching the thousand Buddhas, among them Shakyamuni Buddha is small in stature, the light is only a fathom, the assembly is small, the lifespan is short, and so on, thinking that he is inferior to other teachers. In order to reverse this thought, he explained that Vairocana's body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities are like an inexhaustible wheel of ornaments, and promised that he is the essence of all Buddhas. The listener understands that the nature of the form body is uniformly the same, while the speaker thinks that it is the same to perfect the accumulations and attain the Dharmakaya for one's own benefit, and to benefit beings for the benefit of others. As it says in the Treasury: All Buddhas' accumulations and, Dharmakaya's activities for the benefit of beings, are the same, not by lifespan and, lineage and body size. The implicit thought of transformation is: In order to eliminate the distinction that Geshe (dge bshes) Gautama teaches the Dharma even without being requested, and the thought that if one can attain excellence merely through six years of asceticism, then the Dharma to be attained is too shallow.
