There are two, namely, possessing the nature of scripture and realization. As it is said, the teachings have two aspects: scriptural transmission and realization. The former is to understand the meaning of the scriptures, including the twelve branches of scripture, and the latter is to understand and apply it to one's own mindstream, and to directly realize that realization in the mindstream. Therefore, to realize the teaching of realization without error depends on understanding the teaching of scripture properly. Now, most of those with little wisdom do not need to be discouraged by this. If they do not strive for learning that matches their own intellectual capacity, there will be biased attachment to the Dharma and individuals. Therefore, one should become accustomed to thoroughly studying and contemplating the subject to be practiced, and ultimately learn to increase the power of wisdom. Why? Because even if the place to be cultivated is small, if one thoroughly studies and contemplates it, one can experience its meaning without confusion. In this way, if it becomes a path, then the wisdom arising from meditation will arise within, because it is established by valid cognition. Therefore, as a sign that meditation is not mistaken, it is necessary that the more one meditates, the more the wisdom of discernment increases, because the nature of wisdom that focuses on suchness and all-encompassingness is the wisdom of insight. Moreover, there are two types of wisdom: conventional realization and ultimate realization. The first is, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "If one does not diligently apply oneself to the five sciences, even the supreme noble one will not become omniscient. Therefore, in order to subdue others and to take hold of them, and to know everything oneself, one should diligently study them." Thus, in order to cut off those who do not believe in the teachings, one needs to study grammar and logic; in order to follow and accept those who have faith, one needs to study crafts and medicine; and in order to know everything oneself, one needs to seek inner knowledge, which is the specific need of this time. If one generates bodhicitta and seeks all of this in order to attain Buddhahood, then there is no difference. Here, in order to show the selflessness of suchness from the perspective of general meaning and direct perception, and in order to establish the key of wisdom that measures and the treasure of the holy Dharma that is measured, the two truths will be explained.

The nature of distinction is: Measuring the measurable dharma with the measuring wisdom, measuring the two, direct and definitive, and the four, hidden and intentional. The essence of all dharmas, suchness itself, abiding in the three doors of liberation is definitive meaning. In order for phenomena to enter the path as they appear, establishing them through reasoning is the direct path. Measuring with these two, whether to rely on or not rely on the direct and definitive, this knowledge is the key to viewing the scriptures. Among them, the nature of all dharmas, entering the door of liberation, is emptiness, signlessness, and the fruit of wishlessness, and does not manifest accumulation, is free from desire, abandons hatred, is good at subduing ignorance, becomes without existence, and also has no self-nature in its own nature, and is free from the three, arising, ceasing, and abiding. Is the definitive meaning. Phenomena enter as they appear, arising and ceasing, going and coming, purification and liberation, aggregates, elements, and sense bases appear in various forms, and are combined with mind, attention, and speech, and can be measured by the power of wisdom. All that is established and proclaimed is the meaning of directness. As it is said in the sutra taught by the noble Inexhaustible Intelligence: What is the sutra of definitive meaning? What is the sutra of direct meaning? Those sutras that are taught for the purpose of entering the path are called direct meaning. Those sutras that are taught for the purpose of entering the fruit are called definitive meaning. Those sutras that teach about self, sentient beings, life, individuals, persons, those born of power, lords of power, actors, experiencers, and sounds in various forms, and those that teach about the ownerless as having an owner, those are called direct meaning. Those sutras that teach about emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-manifest accumulation, unborn, non-existent, non-object, non-self, non-sentient being, non-life, non-person, non-owner, and without between the doors of liberation, those are called definitive meaning. Therefore, one should rely on the sutra of definitive meaning, and not rely on the sutra of direct meaning. Thus it is said. If the parts are divided in detail, there are four reliances.
