All activities and all other collections of merit arise dependent on such wisdom. Similarly, even worldly arts, crafts, scholarship, self-preservation, obtaining food and wealth, and helping others, etc., occur to those who have wisdom. In the world, there are countless supreme treasures of art and various different fields of study, as well as the wisdom and mantras that completely control them. The various arrangements of the Dharma, the different types of liberation gates, and the various ways of benefiting the world, all demonstrate the power of the great bodhisattvas. All of these arise from complete wisdom. Without wisdom, let alone knowing how many and what kind of teachings of scripture and realization there are, even if one strives on the path of the perfections, such as generosity and discipline, they will not become causes for liberation, nor will they be purified. Without wisdom, in seeking results, generosity itself will not become completely pure. If the light of wisdom does not dispel the darkness, one will not possess pure discipline. For the most part, because of the lack of wisdom, discipline becomes defiled by the faults of wrongdoing, becoming afflicted. Without wisdom, even if one obtains the position of king or leader, etc., from the fruits of past generosity, fame will only arise once and then immediately vanish. Even if one has good intentions, one will have little power to help others. Therefore, even worldly treatises must be studied. If the mind is driven by the fault of wrong wisdom, it will not be able to abide in the virtue of patience. When discerning good and bad, one will hold an attitude of non-virtue, like a king without merit, whose fame is fleeting. In short, the darkness of ignorance naturally exists in the minds of beings, and it will not be dispelled until the sun of wisdom rises. The causes of ignorance are evil friends, laziness, idleness, love of sleep, loss of mindfulness, meditating on non-conceptual meditation without discernment, arrogance even though one does not know, strong wrong views, and being daunted by the vast meaning of the Dharma, to the point that intelligence withers, and one does not like to associate with the wise. Listening and contemplation become obstacles to it.

There are proclamations of secret words of demons that lack essence. And laziness, negligence, relying on bad companions, being controlled by sleep, being in a state of non-thought, having no interest in the supreme wisdom of the Able One, being oppressed by wrong pride and asking for meaning, and due to the arising of low self-esteem and attachment to self. Not having faith in relying on wise people, wrong thoughts are as poisonous and have wrong views. It is the cause of ignorance, which the wise should abandon. Thus, one must first rely on the merits of listening. Here, in the place of ordinary beings, if one does not rely on the wisdom that comes from listening, then the merits of thinking and meditating will wander aimlessly. The wisdom of listening is said to be the cause of all. Among them, if the continuum of any person is noble, then because the power of previous habits is stable, even if one does not do extensive listening and thinking in that life, the intelligence of one's own power may arise. Even if it is possible, one must strive until the ninth quality is not born in the continuum because it possesses four individual correct knowledges. As the youth Norzang said: May all qualities also be without measure. Thus he prayed. Therefore, as a sign that one's own continuum is an ordinary person, the mind is afflicted, and if one possesses the same as other beings who go to the side of ignorance, then their good wishes and prayers will not be of benefit, so one must first seek the wisdom that comes from listening. If one does not do so, then the wisdom of thinking and meditating is like embers under the snow, wandering aimlessly. Thus, the teacher Hero said: The one who has little listening is like a blind person, not knowing how to meditate. Without that, what will he think about? Therefore, one should be diligent in listening, that is the cause, and if one meditates while thinking, then vast wisdom will arise. Thus. Therefore, the reason for listening is the cause of the arising of wisdom, and the reason for going to the forest after listening. Lord Maitreya said: Wisdom is supreme, its basis is, listening, therefore listening is supreme. As it says in the Compendium of Trainings: One should seek tolerant listening, then one should dwell in the forest, and one should strive for even placement. Thus it is said. How does listening determine that? The Dharma to be determined is the precious teaching of the Buddha himself, and also in the Treasury it says: The teacher's true Dharma
