Being attached to meditative absorption and the like is called being unrestrained. The sameness of essence between meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment exists in all stages of practicing meditative absorption. There is unrestraint up to the seventh ground, but beyond that, they are of the same essence, so they are not separate. As Lord Maitreya said: "Always wise in accomplishing tasks, blazing like fire, and constantly entering into peaceful meditative absorption." So it is. Furthermore, if measured from the perspective of the three samadhis: the Samadhiraja Sutra, the Arya Viravikrama Sutra, and the Vajropama Samadhi included in the Uninterrupted Path, then firstly, from the samadhi of seeing all conventional dharmas as the eight examples of illusion and being completely familiar with this, the general characteristics of compounded phenomena, the five aggregates, the order of arising of existence, and especially the aggregate of consciousness, the agent of all, are seen as illusion-like, appearing without root or place, like an illusion. This illusion-like meditative equipoise is absorbed into practice and mastery is attained. In the subsequent attainment, the samadhi is seen in the same way, continuously and without interruption, thereby completely purifying the obscurations of manifestation. Like a magician, one performs whatever manifestation activities one desires and attains mastery. This is called the Illusion-like Samadhi. The second is the stainless samadhi of the bodhisattva on the tenth ground. The wisdom of its subsequent attainment performs great deeds like the Tathagata, but there is no fear of falling into nirvana without remainder, because it does not need to arise from obstruction. Therefore, all the distinctions of the lower grounds are transformed into excellent activities, and even after becoming a Buddha, it has the activity of showing the form body. This is the Viravikrama Samadhi itself. For example, when a hero enters the battlefield, four divisions of troops follow; when a Chakravartin king goes forth, the seven precious things follow; and the brave and courageous one abides in the sound, meaning, and definition of overcoming others. Similarly, wherever a bodhisattva who has attained this samadhi goes, all the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment follow, therefore it is called the Viravikrama Samadhi. The limit of the perfection of the power of this samadhi is the eighth ground itself. The path corresponding to this is also present in the practitioners of the application path who are learning the path.

That is merely the practice of faith and understanding. Third, what is the uninterrupted path that abandons the ninth level of meditative absorption at the peak of existence? As the Treasury of Knowledge states: "The uninterrupted path of the ninth is like a vajra." Just as a vajra destroys all things, so too does this destroy all subtle obscurations, hence it is called the vajra-like samadhi. This also includes both the lower and higher paths, as the Compendium of Abhidharma states: "What is the vajra-like samadhi? It is included in the path of joining and the uninterrupted path. That which is included in the path of joining is that which henceforth cannot be shaken by any obscurations, and all obscurations are destroyed. That which is included in the uninterrupted path is that under which the knowledge of exhaustion and the knowledge of non-arising occur." Here, the unshakable nature according to the Lesser Vehicle refers to the smallest of the small of the afflictive obscurations, or the Great Vehicle refers to the subtle of the subtle of the cognitive obscurations being diminished. What is the path of joining? It is that which abandons the afflictions. That is to say, during the path of joining, from the time one obtains the nature of that path, all obscurations cannot shake it, and it acts to destroy all obscurations. The vajra-like samadhi included in the uninterrupted path is the wisdom of the final moment, because the path of no more learning arises in the next instant. Therefore, since one obtains unsurpassed enlightenment by relying on these samadhis, one should cultivate the suchness that is the general characteristic of all knowable things, and make it of one taste with non-conceptual meditation. Then, when the session ends, undo the lotus position, prostrate to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, perform the seven-limbed practice, and aspire to practice the conduct of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva that comes from the Avatamsaka Sutra. And one should also focus on accomplishing the meaning of what is said therein: "May I become an inexhaustible treasury of means and wisdom, samadhi and liberation, and all qualities." In all subsequent attainments, one should practice the three accumulations of merit, such as generosity, and in equipoise, one should abide in the nature of meditation, and with superior wisdom
