Practice, and constantly maintain the joy of the mind without diminishing, therefore this life is also happy, the next life can prevent falling into evil destinies, and can give rise to higher realms and definite goodness, therefore, after observing the benefits of patience in bringing happiness in all aspects, one is happy to accept it. As it is said in the 《Perfection of Discipline Sutra》: "For those who have the mind of abandoning the benefit of others, patience is the most excellent of disciplines." All the beautiful perfections of the world can be protected from the faults of anger by patience. Patience is the most excellent adornment of those with power, and the peak of strength for those who hold the ascetic discipline. Patience is the sharp sword that cuts off the mind of harm, and the sweet rain that extinguishes the fire of anger. It can pacify many harms in this life and the next with patience. For the armor of patience of the supreme beings, the arrows of harsh words of the untamed cannot penetrate, those arrows will become flowers in the sky, and the chain of fame of the patient will become pleasing. "It is also said: "The image that is full of merit and beauty, and is itself an adornment, is also the place for achieving the art of form, which is patience." And so on. In addition, the 《Bodhisattva-bhumi》 says: The Bodhisattva initially only sees the benefits of patience. Because those who have patience will not have many enemies in the next life, will not have many separations, will have much happiness and joy in their hearts, will die without regret, and after the body is destroyed, they will also be reborn among the gods in the heavens of the good realms. Seeing the benefits of patience in this way, one will also practice patience oneself, and will also cause others to truly practice patience, and will also proclaim the merits of patience, and seeing those who have patience will bring joy to the heart, and will always be joyful. And so on. Furthermore, in terms of the ultimate truth, the nature of anger is the reason for being without characteristics: If you observe carefully, the essence of harm, like the ripples in the water, is without self-nature. The moment when discriminating thoughts, angry faces, and roughness disappear, it is completely empty like the sky, without gain or loss. Therefore, for the patience that transcends the world, first eliminate the four inverted attachments to the object of harm, and then when observing the mind that has the object, the nature of harm is only born from sudden causes, and does not have the ability to continuously hold the self-nature with its own essence. For example, although the ripples in the water appear in an instant, they will also disappear in an instant.

As it transforms. Being encompassed by actions, when the sudden frown of anger accompanied by thought disappears, all remaining anger mental factors will cease. Why? Because merely by having a mind, it arises momentarily like an illusion through intentional thought. If one remains solely in that state, it is because there is no inherent nature of arising. Like the sky, because of non-discrimination, there is no gain or loss. As it is said in the "Ten Wheels of Ksitigarbha Sutra": "All actions are completely pacified, all discriminations are completely abandoned, the mind is equal to the sky, in this patience abide completely." And as it is said in the "Bodhicharyavatara": "Having known this, one should not be angry with all things that are like illusions." And: "In such empty things, what is there to gain, what is there to lose?" This is the patience of practicing the Dharma based on the ultimate truth. In the stage of faith, it is following after the sound; in the seventh stage, it is conforming; in the eighth stage and so on, it is patience with the unborn Dharma. As it is said in the commentary on the "Bodhicharyavatara." Furthermore, if the three asceticisms of patience are weakened, the other five perfections, such as generosity, are like a small path surrounded by external enemies, difficult to reach the desired place, therefore, one should generate the power of wisdom. Among them, in the three asceticisms of patience, firstly, if one loses heart and becomes discouraged in the patience of accepting suffering, it will become a great obstacle to the path. This is because beings are entirely dependent on the power of karma, the causes of happiness are few, and the causes of suffering are many. As the "Bodhicharyavatara" says: "The causes of happiness are rare, the causes of suffering are extremely many." That is, either based on one's own past karma or based on other conditions. If one engages in virtuous deeds, one will experience the worries of the mind or the various difficulties caused by the activity. At that time, it is indispensable to know how to carry on the path with the strength of mind that has little tolerance for the pervasive thoughts of suffering or for the side of happiness. As it is said in the "Heap of Jewels Sutra": 'Daughter, in order to destroy all your afflictions, you should be able to endure.'
