When encountering '་', consider it as meeting the Buddha; when placing your foot, consider it as walking for the benefit of all sentient beings; when lifting your foot, consider it as liberating from samsara; when seeing something adorned, consider it as obtaining the marks and signs of excellence; when seeing something unadorned, consider it as possessing the qualities of practice; when seeing a full container, consider it as being filled with qualities; when seeing an empty container, consider it as being devoid of faults; when seeing sentient beings happy, consider it as being happy in the Dharma; when seeing unhappiness, consider it as not being happy with conditioned phenomena; when seeing sentient beings in bliss, consider it as obtaining the bliss of the Buddha; when seeing suffering, consider it as all the suffering of sentient beings being pacified; when seeing a sick person, consider it as being liberated from illness; when seeing gratitude, consider it as repaying the kindness of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; when seeing ingratitude, consider it as not being grateful for wrong views; when seeing a debater, consider it as being able to defeat all external debaters; when seeing praise, consider it as praising all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; when seeing someone giving a Dharma talk, consider it as obtaining the Buddha's fearlessness; when seeing a Buddha image, consider it as seeing all Buddhas without obstruction; when seeing a stupa, consider it as becoming a stupa for all beings; when seeing someone making estimations, consider it as obtaining the seven noble riches; when seeing prostrations, consider it as obtaining the invisible reverence of the world with gods bowing their heads, and generate such a thought. In short, the *Compendium of Trainings* says: "My body and possessions, and the virtues arising in the three times, I give to all sentient beings, and now I protect, purify, and increase them." Like this, by embracing with the mind of enlightenment, giving one's body, possessions, and all the roots of virtue accumulated in the three times, directly or indirectly, to sentient beings, and by protecting, purifying, and increasing, all the vows of a Bodhisattva are encompassed. Among these, the beginner protects, purifies through faith and practice, the Bodhisattva on the seven impure grounds gives away, and the Bodhisattva on the three pure grounds increases. These are explained extensively in the *Compendium of Trainings*, and one should abandon aspects that are inconsistent with it, as the *Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes* says: "Incompatible and compatible factors, knowing all aspects completely, striving diligently to abandon them, the four aspects arise excellently." Such mindfulness.

A Bodhisattva who is mastered by wisdom, their lifting and placing of steps, as well as the extension and contraction of limbs, are all included in the nature of the six perfections, thus easily perfecting the two accumulations. Furthermore, the discipline of benefiting sentient beings is: through skillful means, directly or indirectly, striving to benefit all sentient beings, practicing generosity and kind speech, beneficial action and acting in accordance with others' intentions, and the gate of discipline for accumulating virtue and upholding the Dharma is vast. Among these, the method of gathering disciples by relying on the four means of gathering has been explained before. The discipline of accumulating virtuous Dharmas, because it is related to all three disciplines, is a place of learning, and as a companion to the discipline of benefiting sentient beings, it is also practiced through the vast gate of similar and corresponding objects. The function of the discipline of benefiting sentient beings is to benefit others and ripen their minds. As stated in the Bodhisattva-bhumi: To be a friend to actions that are meaningful; to relieve the suffering of suffering beings; to show wisdom to those who are unskilled; to nurture children with love and repay kindness; to protect those who are afraid; to eliminate the sorrow of those who are suffering; to provide resources to those who lack them; to skillfully gather retinues with the Dharma; to act in accordance with their minds; to delight them with true qualities; to skillfully subdue; and to frighten and inspire with miracles. For example: The first is like Shariputra helping the householder Anathapindika build the Jeta Grove Monastery. The second is like the being named "Powerful Blue Aquatic Fish," who had eighteen heads, was caught by five hundred fishermen, dragged ashore, and was in great pain. The Buddha saved its life and blessed it to remember its past lives. The third is like the barber, a fallen one from a close relative's lineage, who was unskilled, and Shariputra helped him to ordain through the kindness of Shakya Good Protector. The fourth is like when a great plague occurred in the city of Holy Victory, the Buddha praised the venerable Katyayana and his five hundred attendants, making them happy.
