The so-called Posadha of calming the mind, and for the sake of the continuity of future lives, to cut off the defilements of this life, and for the sake of purifying the increasing precepts, there are two corresponding Posadhas. Here, I will briefly explain the meaning of the latter. These are the five types: the fourteenth day, the fifteenth day, the auspicious Posadha, the obstacle-removing Posadha, and the reconciling Posadha. The first one is that, by distinguishing the intervals where the day, date, and constellation cannot meet, there are six fourteenth-day Posadhas in each year. As it says in the "Yearly Question": "The first month, the second month, the Saga month, the Water Upper month, the Chumu Lower month, and the Miler month, these months' dark fractions are the half-month fourteenth-day Posadha." The second one is the twelve fifteenth days of the waxing moon, and the six waning moons from the Miler month to the Chumu Upper month, totaling eighteen. Among them, regarding the rule of postponement, it is said that one should follow the king, which is considering that there will be wise calculators in the king's court. Why? Because the constellations should follow the astrologer. This can be known from this statement. The third one is to eliminate the ten improper things stipulated by the Bhikshu Mahadeva, and to perform activities during auspicious times such as consecration, hence the name. The fourth one is to avert sudden declines in the world such as diseases and epidemics, or to prevent them from happening again. The fifth one is the Posadha performed to harmonize the Sangha. Thus, these three irregular Posadhas only differ in stating their respective times when performing the Karma. Here, for the two regular Posadhas, if a large boundary is set, it is performed there; if both large and small boundaries are set, it starts from the small boundary and enters the large boundary, etc., according to the practice. The performers are the five types of ordained people. Also, from the previous Posadha to this Posadha, one should check whether one's own mindstream has produced transgressions. If it has, one should proceed according to the order of confession, protection, and blessing. Then, regarding the materials for the Ghaṇṭā (bell) for gathering the Sangha, the Sutra says: "Sandalwood, Vilva, Palasha, Ashvattha and red sandalwood, large-bellied wood, Taru-kima tree, Shishapa and Tamala, mango tree, Starbu, Amla, Tindi-sara, Ashoka. Even if all these are not available, one should strive to use Olsela." It says in the text. Regarding the size, it is water.
