It is written that in the east, the people of Videha descend from the gods, with a height of eight cubits and a lifespan of two hundred and fifty years. Then, those with unpleasant voices come from the Thirty-three Heavens, with a height of thirty-two cubits and a lifespan of one thousand years, without untimely death. Speaking the language of Bhisha Chheda, they are also called those with unpleasant voices because their speech is unpleasant. A dry tree falls in seven days, and that person also dies and is reborn in the Thirty-three Heavens. Similarly, the western Godaniya also descends from the gods, with a height of sixteen cubits and a lifespan of five hundred years. Gradually, the people of each sub-continent also appear. The appearances of the people of the four continents are also similar to their respective continents. For example, Jambudvipa is triangular, so people's faces and bodies are both triangular. Similarly, the skies of each continent also correspond to the color of Mount Meru. The etymology of this continent is: because it is adorned with trees called Jambu trees, it is called Jambudvipa. To the north of the Vajra Throne, measuring nine black mountains, is Mount Tise (Mount Kailash), the king of snow mountains. To its north is Mount Gandhamadana. Between the north of the snow mountain and the south of Mount Gandhamadana is the great Lake Manasarovar, together with the Dragon King. In that lake, there are lotus trees with branches as thick as plowshares and leaves as large as elephant hides, with various water birds, which are difficult to traverse without miraculous powers. At the foot of that snow mountain, there is a golden bird-sheltered rock with caves for five hundred Arhats, and the land of the Asuras called Non-Gods, with a water width of fifty yojanas, the abode of Indra's elephant king, Well-Established. There, surrounded by seven rows of Tala trees, is the king of trees, Well-Established, and the elephant's dung accumulates into a pool called Slowly Scattering, surrounded by five hundred pool attendants. On this, there are various studies in Tibetan treatises, and the scriptures say that there are five different kinds of people in the snowy region, as stated in the Great Commentary on the Abhidharma, so it cannot be taken as absolute. On the shore of Lake Manasarovar, there are rocks of various shapes, and to the east, the Ganges flows from the mouth of an elephant, circling Lake Manasarovar seven times, and the water

Five hundred tributaries flow into the eastern sea. Similarly, from the mouth of the best of herds in the south flows the Sindhu River, from the mouth of the best of horses in the west flows the Pakshu River, and from the mouth of the lion in the north flows the Sita River, all flowing into their respective seas as before. Some say that from the mouth of the best of horses in the east flows the great Lohita River, carrying silver sand; from the mouth of the elephant in the south flows the Ganges, carrying gold sand; from the mouth of the peacock in the west flows the Sindhu River, carrying sand of various jewels; and from the mouth of the lion in the north flows the Pakshu River, carrying diamond sand, all flowing around as before. On the right bank of that sea is a Jambu tree, wide in extent, bearing delicious fruits that fall into the sea and become the gold of the Jambu River. That gold is like the refined essence of ordinary gold melted sixteen times, having that color and luster. To the north of that sea is a Shalmali tree with an extremely high peak, having nests of four kinds of Garudas. In this Jambudvipa, which has such a complete arrangement, in the first kalpa, the lifespan was immeasurable. From the common name being known as "sentient beings" to being known as "humans," there was a long period of time spent indulging in joy and happiness, after which lifespan and merit gradually decreased compared to before. When the lifespan could reach a billion years, beings were born from eggs formed by the aggregation of the first particles of the four elements, which were of the nature of light. They traveled in the sky by the wind of karma. They ate the essence of the elements as food. Because there was no suffering from heat or cold, they did not need clothes for their bodies. By that power, dirt accumulated on their bodies, so there were also good bathing ponds to wash away that dirt. They naturally abided in the ten virtues. Then, when the lifespan was six hundred and sixty thousand years, due to the causes of heat and cold, all beings were born from heat and moisture. Wish-fulfilling cows produced nectar-like milk to nourish their bodies. When they wanted to travel, they rode intelligent horses and went wherever they wished, and so on. The qualities they desired arose from the earth, water, and forests of trees. Then, when the lifespan could reach ninety thousand years, the previous wealth decreased. One person was born and one tree appeared. They ate the delicious fruits of the trees, and used the leaves as clothes. Although the signs of male and female had not yet appeared, they
