Towards all of them, not even a single unhelpful thought arose. The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable; just as the realm of sentient beings is, when the Tathagata Bodhisattva engages in Bodhisattva conduct, with each arising of Bodhicitta, such a great accumulation of merit arises. Why is that? Monks, the realm of sentient beings is inexhaustible; just as the realm of sentient beings is inexhaustible, so too, when the Tathagata Bodhisattva engages in Bodhisattva conduct, with each arising of Bodhicitta, an inexhaustible accumulation of merit arises. Thus it was said. In order to show the preliminary practices for accumulating merit, even the dwelling place that displays purity, beauty, and splendor is sprinkled and cleaned with saffron perfume. Thinking only of the Three Jewels in one's mind, one delights in and enjoys setting up offerings. The external cleaning of clean rooms such as the temples of the three ancestral kings (Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen, and Ralpacan) and practice places blessed by the supreme objects of veneration, or places secluded from sinful beings, is called "displaying purity, beauty, and splendor." There, too, saffron and good perfumes, five products of the cow, etc., are applied, and flowers are scattered. Just as one focuses on a guest held in one's heart, not for the sake of fame or arrogance before others, but alas! This offering to the excellent Three Jewels, offered with great faith in the field of merit, is very abundant. The root of virtue will not be wasted. Keeping in mind, "I have obtained a good gain," one examines umbrellas, victory banners, flags, canopies, nets, half-nets, powders, jeweled-topped yak-tail fans, lda ldi, curtains, and so forth. And the four offerings of offering water, foot-washing water, and incense, each with their respective containers. Flowers, incense, lamps, scented ointments, food, and various musical instruments such as cymbals, round drums, clay drums, single-faced clay drums, mridanga, pataha, flutes, lutes, conches, various kinds of flutes, iron bells, wheel bells, hand drums, castanets, and so on, are all objects of the noble land.

And, arrange whatever is actually available from the endless branches of the music of the snowy mountains. Summon all the images of vows there. The ritual of inviting and receiving the wisdom being is, faster than remembering the beloved vows, the Buddhas will pass over other Buddha-fields to see. As it is said, in that very place, arranging the supports of body, speech, and mind is the meaning of accumulating the field of merit and manifestation. Invite the images of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with blessings, as well as the scriptures of the Mahayana, etc., as they are available, and respectfully offer them a seat. As it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, or as will be explained below, bless the ground and establish a bathhouse, etc. Imagine that place to be more vast than the realm of the three thousand great thousand worlds, becoming a delightful immeasurable palace. From the Moon Lamp Sutra, the words of invitation on the lotus, sun, moon, and silk seat appear. Arise! Arise! God with the ten powers! And so on. And from the Supreme Wisdom, all sentient beings, etc., invite the wisdom being with this, and welcome them with incense and various kinds of music. If so, from where do they come? Where do they dwell? If you think like that, there is nowhere they come from, they come from the place of their own nature. There is nowhere they dwell, it is in the very place of mental manifestation. As it says in the Ratnakuta Sutra: Whoever remembers the Buddhas, he abides before them, constantly blessing them, and is liberated from all sins. Thus, those with faith pray and invite, and the Buddha, possessing the wisdom of knowing, remembers them, constantly watches over them with a heart of compassion, and all actions appear solely for the benefit of others. The reason for appearing in a form body from the realm of Dharma is obvious to those who see the truth of Dharma. Here, for the time being, in order to learn and follow the order of the King Who Knows the Time, we invite and bathe. Whoever is the protector and friend of all beings without exception, and also the enemy of the hordes of demons. Knowing and seeing as it is, I pray that the Blessed One will come to my place. It is not a manifestation of karma, it is the footprint of descent, the bath of
