Because of being powerless, who would be willing to abandon the one whose milk was sucked with the force of loving-kindness? Those who have exerted much effort and cherished with loving-kindness, even in a very base situation, who would be willing to abandon them? Who would be willing to abandon the one who, at this time, is found and dwells within? Who has taken this life, guarded with affection and care? Abandoning these afflictions, suffering, and helplessness, even if it were a most lowly being, who would be willing to abandon them? As it is said, we were initially without the form of a human, lacking the consciousness of a man, weak in ability and power, without a speaking tongue or skillful hands, like a worm emerging from a dry cocoon, and were nurtured in many ways. Through learning signs and spiritual friends, now, like a fledgling escaping from the nest, we are able to stand on our own, which is the kindness of our mother. In this way, just as our mother has cared for us, all other sentient beings of the three realms have, from beginningless time, been our mothers and relatives. As the teacher, the Noble One, said, "The end of mothers is only a small juniper bush," as quoted before. And as it says in the 'Letter of Exhortation', "Those who gathered together, laughing and playing, singing songs and making merry, eating and drinking together, over time, making flowers into earrings, in whatever situation, whether together or apart, relatives submerged in the ocean of samsara, appearing as if fallen into an abyss, having forgotten each other due to the shifting of births, if one were to seek liberation alone, there would be no greater shame than that." As it is said. Not having been mothers and relatives, becoming relatives is certain, like our present mothers and relatives, they have bestowed great benefit, they are all benefactors. Because of being deluded by the shifting of bodies and appearances, do not be swayed by ignorance, but understand, be grateful, give help, and look upon them with loving-kindness. As it says in the 'Intermediate Mother', "When you see sentient beings without happiness, at that time, you should thoroughly examine in this way: May these sentient beings obtain the perfect happiness of the gods of the heavenly realms." As it is said. Hating what is inherently unpleasant, being unable to bear the wealth and prosperity of others, and abandoning the intermediate state, these three are the opposing factors to loving-kindness.

Therefore, to counteract it, recognizing the kindness of past lives and being grateful is itself very powerful. Regarding the order of practicing mind transformation, it is said in the "Extensive Explanation of the Four Immeasurables": Sentient beings have three types: lovable, neutral, and unlovable. Among them, lovable sentient beings are further divided into three types: superior, intermediate, and inferior. For neutral sentient beings, one should first contemplate them as one's parents, etc. After becoming accustomed to this, contemplate all neutral beings as being like the superior ones. Then, contemplate slightly unlovable beings as being like the superior ones. After becoming accustomed to this, contemplate moderately unlovable beings as being like the superior lovable ones. Then, one should also contemplate very unlovable beings as being like one's parents. In this way, after becoming accustomed to this, the object of contemplation is that there is no sentient being who has not been one's parents, etc., from beginningless time. When contemplating in this way, one should start by contemplating the people of one's own household, then gradually expand, and finally contemplate limitless beings. It is like this. The measure of habituation is that whatever sentient being one sees, one feels pleased, is able to endure harm, and generates the mind to benefit them; even when seeing perfection, one does not generate competitive or jealous thoughts, but rather hopes that they will be longer-lived, healthier, and have more Dharma wealth than oneself, and only thinks of ways to benefit them. The "Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra" says: If the mind of loving-kindness is cultivated more and becomes stable, then seeing beings will be pleasing, and there will be no anger. Its benefits are, as the "Great Liberation Sutra" says: If in a pure world, one guards pure morality for a kalpa, one only obtains a moment of joy. Therefore, practicing loving-kindness is the best. Whoever in this world commits evil deeds with body, speech, and mind, and is destined to fall into the three lower realms, can immediately be purified through loving-kindness. It is also said in the sutras: Son of good family, cultivating the samadhi of loving-kindness, even receiving offerings without rising from one's seat, will generate immeasurable merit. Furthermore, there are eight great qualities.
