Therefore, as extensively explained in the Sutra of the Ten Wheels of Ksitigarbha, those with merits should not be despised or subjected to punishment. Our teacher's unwavering devotion to the Three Jewels did not diminish even when he was reborn in the form of an animal. For example, the Lion King, due to his steadfast faith in his personal deity, even when a hunter disguised as a renunciate sought to take his life, continued to trust and maintain his reverence. Taking this as an example, we should not dwell on the faults of others. In general, the scholar Hero said, "To quarrel with wrong views, to look down on stinginess, to dislike those who uphold morality, and to regard ascetic vows as mistaken, these four are undesirable, as they destroy the root." So it is said. In summary, the more respect one has for the Three Jewels, the more other beings will view oneself in the same way. This is the unfailing result of cause and effect. The King of Samadhi Sutra says, "Whatever actions are done, one will obtain the corresponding result." Therefore, to show that the realization gained through reverence can illuminate everything, it is said, "Serve the objects of the Three Jewels with faith, abandon forgetfulness day and night, and take refuge." The cause of faith is that in the past, when teachers had not yet appeared in the world, people mistook non-protectors for protectors and non-paths for paths, thus following teachers of various afflictions and entering the wrong paths of teachings, practicing unbearable ascetic vows. Now that we have understood the difference between our own and others' teachers and teachings, why not open the door to entering faith? As it is said in the Excellent Praise:

It is because it is different from that. At the feet of the hero (it is praised): For what is your teaching, that obtains happiness through happiness? Therefore, O Lion of Speech, beings turn to your doctrine. (etc.) With these praises, it is widely praised in two collections of praises. Therefore, after generating great faith that remembers kindness, towards the body image of the Tathagata, stupas, and scriptures, etc., whether they are manifestly present or not, solely for these, establish the memory of offering, and respectfully serve. Even if there is only one object of focus, if one knows the nature of all dharmas as inseparable, then it becomes an offering to all. Moreover, do not let others do it because of the control of laziness, idleness, and drowsiness, but rather clean it yourself, this is taking the essence on a body that has function, and accumulating vast merit. Also, seeing that the accumulation of merit of sentient beings is meager, suffering, and weak in ability, thinking that if these people make offerings, then they themselves will touch the fruit of happiness, so let others do it. Through the pull of compassion and bodhicitta, one obtains greater merit than before. In particular, with that thought, urging others, doing it together with oneself and others, then one can obtain even greater merit than that. As it says in the Essence of the Middle Way: Who, like a water tree bubble, for this body without essence, accomplishes the cause of benefiting others, will not accomplish the essence like Mount Sumeru. Because of having increasing compassion, every moment the body and speech, which are the source of aging, death, and disease, become the basis for bringing happiness to other beings. For this leisure that possesses the lamp of the true Dharma and is free from the eight unfree states, one should make it fruitful with the conduct of a great person. Therefore, through the gateways of body, speech, and mind, make respectful offerings, prostrations, joining palms, manifesting standing, circumambulating, bowing with the head, speaking respectfully, chanting praises, and endless giving of land, houses, and gardens, etc., as well as jewels, musical instruments, armlets, necklaces, semoto, zidir, and Brahma.

Offerings such as ornaments with threads, bells, small bells, half-nets, laḍī, scattering karṣāpaṇi, offering maṇḍalas, etc., and acquired offerings such as clothes, bedding, cushions, daily necessities, medicines for treating illnesses, horses and elephants, etc., incense, cleaning the body, repairing residences, intimacy, applying fragrance, applying gold, synthetic and natural incense, garlands of flowers, various musical instruments, lamps, etc., similarly, ownerless offerings as mentioned in the Cloud of Jewels Sutra and the Samaya Sutra, etc., also offer flowers, edible trees, landscapes, rivers, and precious treasures, etc., and those are also not mixed with the afflicted mind of surpassing others, and pleasing kings who have faith in Buddhism, hoping to gain profit, respect, and fame, nor are they discordant things snatched from other places, etc., or not accomplished by sinful great deeds, especially the four immeasurable offerings that please the Buddhas, the three vows, the Three Jewels, the six perfections, recollecting the meaning of profound emptiness, the three wisdoms, the four means of gathering, etc., completely gathering virtuous dharmas, this is called immeasurable accomplishment offering, it is the great offering of perfection. When offering in that way, one should generate six thoughts from the Bodhisattva-bhūmi that produce immeasurable results: thinking that the Three Jewels are the unsurpassed field of merit of qualities, as rare as the udumbara flower, thinking that they are the most excellent of all beings, thinking that benefiting and helping are unparalleled, thinking that they appear only once in the three thousand great thousand worlds, so they are unique, offering with the thought that they are the basis of all perfections of the world and beyond. As it is said in the sutra: Cultivate the field of merit on the field of faith! Like this, it is the unsurpassed field of all happiness in this life and the next, and the treasure of the accumulation of goodness at the time of encounter.
